"But that's the thing - how much is this licensing
matter going to affect the OT modeller - and the
manufacturer who caters to us? Hanriot, Nieuport, and
Sopwith are not going to be forthcoming with licensing
demands."

Sean,
Please see my previous post regarding the decal manufacturer in
Virginia. He was ordered by the lawyers of CSX to cease and desist
producing decals for railroads that had ceased as corporate entities
before WWI even started. When Hanriot, Nieuport, and Sopwith ceased
doing business, who picked up the rights to their designs, plans, etc.
This is who will be knocking at the OT manufacturers door. As was
mentioned earlier, the likes of Tamiya, Hasegawa, etc. won't feel much
of the effect, but the small manufacturer, OT or not, will be crushed.
