[WWI] Color Question

What sort of leather? It comes in a lot of different colours... 

For slightly scruffy leather Raw Sienna does OK, but look at the colour
before you paint - some tubes can have a slightly greenish cast, which
is decidedly off. If you're doing a padded cockpit work in a transparent
coat of Vandyke Brown or Burnt Sienna over the colour after it has dried
- the colour will tend to stick in the recessed areas and produces a
prett convincing effect of worn and well castor-oiled leather.

Obviously this may work for the cockpit padding on a Nieuport, but is
completely wrong for Major Dirigible's highly polished briefcase.
