Nieuport 11, Toko 1/72nd scale ( Alberto Casirati ). The model is based on the Toko 1/72nd kit of the Nieuport Ni.11. The model depicts one of the aeroplanes flown by the 76a Squadriglia of the Aeronautica del Regio Esercito in 1916. See his page on the WW1 site for more info.

Nieuport 11, Revell 1/72nd scale Nie.17 ( Bill Powers ). Converted from the Revell kit using the plans and suggestions from an article in Scale Models. The wings were reduced in span, the fuselage reshaped, the cowling was vacuum-formed as was the windscreen. The landing gear was rebuilt completely using 20 thou brass wire, filed to an oval shape. All the struts were rebuilt. The rigging and control wires are stretched black sprue. A complete interior was added including aileron pushrods connecting to new torque rod levers in the wings. The engine is scratch built and consists of more than 80 pieces. The propeller is carved from walnut. The Italian markings are from a Windsock issue that also gave detailed photos of the interior and engine.

Nieuport 11, Aurora 1/48th scale ( Lance Krieg ). the Bebe Nieuport actually builds up pretty nice with a little effort and a lot of sanding. You have to supply your own details, though, because Aurora sure didn't.

Nieuport 11, Toko 1/72nd scale ( Bill Powers ). A complete interior was made and the engine scratch built, more than 80 pieces. This is a nice and well fitting kit requiring only the addition of a clear windscreen to the curved shield and drilling holes for the control wires. The struts all fit without any timming, but I added a "plate" to stiffen the glue joint where the cabane struts join the fuselage. Control horns were added to the elevator and rudder. The rigging and control wires are fly tying thread. I did replace all the landing gear stuts with 0.20 brass rod but the wheels are from the kit and used white heavy thread to tie the axle to the struts. The scheme is from a Windsock issue, although the overall color should probably be natural/tan instead of silver. The horn and shield were cut from decal sheet, other markings from the kit.

Nieuport 11, Toko 1/72nd scale ( Richard Eaton ). "This is the new kit from our friends at Toko. A real joy to put together. The decals alone are worth the cost of the kit. The kit came with markings for four aircraft. I chose Guynemer's Vieux Charles in CDL even if the font is wrong. The Le Prieurs are not correct for this aircraft but I could not resist putting them on."
