Any of you who knew the aircraft engineer and rebuilder Maurice Brett,
particularly of fame through Jackaroo G-AOIR and latterly Taylorcraft
G-BPRX, will be very sorry to learn that he passed away on the 6th March
after struggling with cancer for over a year.

Can anyone help Matthew with this, please ?

"A long time ago I bought a WW2 RAF officers uniforn with a WW1 observers
brevet and ribbons, and with a Cadet forces medal ribbon up. It was named to
J. S. Bradley and a very old
note I did at the time liked him to a observer J. Bradley who was WIA 16 May
1918 with 55 squadron, which I think was Independant Force. I have lost all
my notes on him bar this - could you have a go at putting flesh on the bones
for me?"

Thanks

Nick

Ian

Is the book by the Norton History Group still available, and is there any
chance of a copy of the Water Works site plan ?

Many thanks

Nick

I have some info on No2 ARD Coal Aston or Green Hill Camp or Norton
Aerodrome (not to be confused with the WW2 Barage Balloon site)mainly from
the book by the Norton History Group. It does have a copy of the RAF Museum

photo of DH9 C1322 as well as a Fleet Strutter F7590 and fleet Camels under
repair. I also have the Water Works detailed site plan of all the sites
with each building marked as to what its use was. The site was quite large
and even had a Wren narrow guage Loco to move engines from the engineering
site to the erection sheds on trhe airfield

AJ Barker wrote a book on Mespot called 'A/The Bastard War' which, I assume,
is not the Kut book under a different title ? I know someone who has a copy,
his father having served with the Machine Gun Corps in Mespot. Which reminds
me, 'Machine Gunner' edited by Critchley (?) contains passagers relating to
the service of the editor with 136th Company MGC, 7th Div (from memory). I
have a copy anyway.

Nick
