Does any one know Major Woods full name ? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 10 Mar 2003 08:06:57 -0000 From: "Peter Wright" To: Subject: Re: Mespot Message-ID: <000901c2e6dc$1b02ff10$0a1b8351@NELLIE> Peter, Just a short list of three books I have on Mespot, and which you may like to try and look at in a library. 'Townshend of Kut' - Biography of Maj-Gen Sir Charles Townshend by A J Barker - Cassell 1967. 'Townshend of Chitral & Kut' - Biography of Townshend by Erroll Sherson - Wm Heinemann 1928. 'Loyalties Mesopotamia 1914-1917' - military and political background to the area - Sir Arnold Wilson - Oxford University Press 1936. Peter Wright. ----- Original Message ----- From: To: "Multiple recipients of list" Sent: Sunday, March 09, 2003 4:30 PM Subject: [CCI] Re: Mespot > I have a copy of his report from May of 1916 from the PRO...it covers details of the squadron from approx Nov 1915 to May 1916, which is important because it covers the siege of Kut. I was wondering if he had written anything on par with Tennant, who actually got around to publishing a book based around his memoirs. Massy's report though does have a lot of detail, and echoes a lot of concerns which plagued Tennant later in the campaign. > I also have R. Gordon's report, the RNAS commander during this timeframe, which is also very interesting. If anyone is interested in a copy, let me know, and I can email them a copy. I have quite a list of articles from between 19010-1920 from the RUSI and its Indian counterpart, related to either the formative stages of the RFC, and how it developed in India as well.
