I knew of the Repair Depot, but I was hoping that some one might have done some research into this area. The Airfield Research Group doesn't seem to have much info on it (they suggested C&CI !)and I'm waiting for Aeroventure at Doncaster to get back to me. (Nothing in Balloons to Buccs). Nick PS I now know of a photo of an 'airfield' in front of the Avro (Mather & Platt) Park Works facing the gasworks. The other works "airfield" used by Avro was at Newton Heath junction (Briscoe and Ten Acre), which I assume became 'operational' at the same time as the new Avro factory (ie postwar). Nick, Coal Aston was the site of No 2 (Northern)Aeroplane Repair Depot, if this adds to the story. If you know the PRO refs, then it will be 2-3 hours normally. Copying is done at cost (PRO currently charges 40-70p per page). If you want to check the refs, the PRO has an excellent search engine. Just do a search for 'pro london' on Google, or such, then follow the bouncing ball!
