Reggie Marix continued to serve, but did he fly ?

I have read a story about him driving nails in to his wooden leg on Mess
nights and stabbing himself with a set of compasses to gauge reaction during
interviews.

There was a recent biog of him, but I have yet to see a copy. C&CI didn't
review it. Has anyone read it ?

Colin,

Is there much made of his time with the reformed 3 Wing prior to his
accident? I covered the accident a little in my article on 3 Wing for OTF
13/4 using records from 3 Wing as well as some other sources.

Regards,
       Bob Pearson

Bob,

On the cover blurb it says that the author had access to family archives,
but his Chapter Eight is mainly composed of just two quotes each from
'The Mad Major' and 'Sailor in the Air' by Draper and Bell-Davies.
Sorry, this is not an in-depth biography of that period, but Ian has a
copy if you're still curious.
Regards,
      Colin

Colin,

Thanks. I have both books, so further info is not necessary.

I fully agree with Colin. Very superficial. Written by a family member,
need I say more. Reggie deserves better.
Rates as a useful beginning for anyone wanting to do a proper research job.

Ian/Colin

So I take it that this is another 'Warneford VC', rather than 'Cross
Country' (which was a good book waiting to be edited) ?
