He was certainly resident here for some years, but was born in Jersey. The name Biard is probably French in origin- although similar to both Guernsey and Jersey surnames! Seeking confirmation of where he went after leaving Guernsey- his widow died here in August 1996. From what can be gathered there are likely to be few sources still available that would remember where he went- most people that remember him did not know he had left Guernsey- although it is possible that he had been receiving medical treatment elsewhere and did not recover-patients are often referred to clinics in Southampton. Seeking a Jersey member to check the Greffe in Royal Square, as there is a research fee of £10.50 unless one goes in person and checks the records! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Jan 2003 09:45:30 -0500 From: H Giblin To: "INTERNET:cci@mustang.sr.unh.edu" Subject: FW: Henri Biard- latest from Air-Britain Message-ID: <200301220945_MC3-1-260C-4CDF@compuserve.com> As I believe I have already mentioned, a trawl through the Probate Registers for England and Wales - starting from the last year he was known to be alive - would surely produce results, ie his date of death, his last address and the path to obtaining a copy of his Will. This latter MAY lead the way to his surviving relatives. It would also seem his wife died in the early 1990's. I do have a photo showing another two aircraft of a similar vintage. Unfortunately the registration of only one is (nearly) decipherable. This is G-EB(C)Y. These are both single engined, two bay biplanes with four passenger windows cut in the fuselage. Can anyone identify the type from the registration numbers? Scanned copies are available to anyone interested. Brian.E.Hall. Sorry to say I cannot help with a photo of Hucks grave, the site needed a bulldozer and heavy lifting equipment to identify the headstones. Yes Benny was born at Benfield End a hamlet near Stansted Mountfitchet and of course the present day airport. Thank you for the info on Billy Cotton, they do not make entertainers like him anymore. Hal, I have added Roy Charles Crowden to the list, he is new to me, at this rate we can probably update the list in the Journal, does anyone know which issue it appeared?. Keep well and keep up the good work lads, John B. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Jan 2003 20:32:02 -0500 From: Ian Burns To: cci@mustang.sr.unh.edu Subject: Re: Dutch Avros Message-ID: <3E2F4612.4CDB2E30@sympatico.ca> >From the description they sound like DH34, G-EBBY or G-EBCY. The former served with Daimler Hire (red fuselage) and later Imperial Airways (probably blue or silver fuselage). The later may not have been completed, so the former seems most likely.
