This particular offering on the Red Baron is in my opinion the best of many the media have presented over the years. With C&C members such as Alex Imrie, Norman Franks and Simon Moody to name a few involved it had to pass muster. To any member who missed this treat look out for the repeat or borrow a video recording as I did, it is worth watching even if you are not a TV fan. Warm regards from chilly Essex, John B. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 11 Jan 2003 17:00:50 -0000 From: "Peter Wright" To: Subject: Re: H C Biard Message-ID: <002901c2b993$13ce3f50$53de7ad5@NELLIE> John, Henri C Biard was born into an Anglo-French family and brought up in England. He took flying lessons at the Grahame-White School at Hendon and during WW1, served in the RFC as a flying instructor. He also carried out anti-sub patrols and is alleged to have shot down an Alb over the Western Front. You no doubt already know all about his work for Supermarine when he flew for the company in the 1922 Contest (won it), 1923 and 1925 when he latterly was injured when the S.4 developed wing flutter and crashed. Yes I am upto speed with his Supermarine days, it looks like his RAeC certificate was in the name of Henry, whilst other sources have him listed as Henri, I would still like to know when he died? Through Hal Giblin I have it that the master (Norman Franks) opined that it wasn't too bad. To ensure I am not misquoting, the relevant bit of his reply reads as follows: >Yes, I saw the Red Baron programme.
