This is correct. The lighter the base, the lighter the eventual finish. I use "Wood" which is a fairly light brown. Don't you mean Humbrol 63? #64 is a light grey on my chart. I also use Tamiya's Clear Yellow to give a different tone. You could use clear orange for a different effect. FWIW, I think your model looks fantastic. I don't know how anyone could say for certain it has to be a specific darkness etc. Surely that would vary with age and across different aircraft of the same type even. Well around here perhaps, not otherwise. Me and my brothers once had a two-stroke, we paid about $10 each, and we had to have extra oil in the petrol so it wouldn't sieze, but it went well, and only three gears meant it would usually beat most cars off the lights. It was fun, handpainted too! Oh and while I'm on to SAAB reminisces, my brother had a 850 Monte Carlo, that was the tuned up two-stroke, what a noise it made, you could hear him on the other side of the village. /Neil C. OT connection is that the SAAB badge was a SAAB B18 bomber in front profile, and SAAB has it's anscestors in ASJA, which licence built Heinkels in Sweden, and we all know that Heinkels are just grown-up Hansa-Brandenburgs! ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 25 Mar 2003 13:15:17 +0000 From: To: Subject: Re: I have an Eduard DH2.. Only a couple of pages this time with 12 photos, but one is an amazing shot of the cockpit interior. I'm sure this baby is 1/28!! Other main highlight is another excellent article by Alberto on Savoia Pomilo pushers, with a couple of nice profiles by "Legs" Pearson and scale plans by Marty Digmayer. It's nice to see the "main" article in Windsock devoted to a lesser-known operational type, and Alberto has done a great job. BTW, it's only the first part.. Other items are a good article on Lohner fighters (effectively all prototypes as none made it into production), a nice photo report from the UK Nats (Geoff Stanley, one-time listee, has a superb Aeroclub BE2c featured) and a two-page photo piece on the restored Curtiss "Canuck" C496. Plus the usual reviews etc etc. Another good issue, sorry you guys all have to wait sooooo long for it! Other bits of news are that Jager have a pic of their Albatros DXII and are listing a Junkers CL1 "TBA". They also have early version Fokker and OAW DVIIs available. Well, the simplest description would say that French cocardes were of the proportion 1:2:3, whereas the British used 1:3:5. But as Dave noted, there were many exceptions on the French side, usually by manufacturer, that used the British proportions.
