So, some models had the air intake sticking out the sides, but it seems that other models did not vent to the outside - hence the absence of holes in the fuselage sides. But what really intrigues me is that this configuration must have been a hazard. I have read that the rotaries usually dripped gasoline into the vent, causing a fire hazard. I also remember reading somewhere that the intake would spew flames when the engine backfired. regards Sanjeev ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 02 Mar 2003 22:49:37 +0000 From: "Diego Fernetti" To: wwi@wwi-models.org Subject: strange hours Message-ID: Ming of Mongo wrote: >PS I do know one hobby shop that's hours are 'irregular' and tend to >correspond >with the pub opening hours! Some of the best stuff I've seen online, and it answered a lot of my questions. Go to the "aircraft" section thread title : "Vickers Questions" The guy who posted it is named William and he is associated with an organisation caled "Canvas Falcon engineering" Looks like they do restorations and reproductions of WW1 aircraft. Not much on their website yet, but it looks promising. ;-) http://www.canvasfalcon.com/ Mark ------------------------------ End of WWI Digest 5056 **********************
