The one thing that was keeping me back on the build earlier was creating the "Shane Control Column" (tm). However, once that was tackled everything else seemed pretty easy. I now have the lower wing added and the small seams on the underside fuselage joint filled and sanded. I removed the stab and glued on the horizontal tail pieces. There will be some sanding to blend these in, but nothing too horrible. Sure wish the Amodel SPAD A.2 could have gone as quickly. Then again, it's a definitely apple/oranges comparison. One thing I wish all companies would do is to provide all control surfaces as separate. However, after listening to the owner of AMTech talk about the injected mold process and cost, I can understand why generally they don't. Especially when it comes to the metal "barillium" (not sure if I spelled that right) molds. Once I sand the horizontal tail surfaces, I'll add the tail skid and the fin, then see what else needs to be accomplished prior to painting. Thank you Eduard for such a great kit!! Hopefully the SPAD will be as nice. ;-) Matt Bittner ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Feb 2003 08:01:19 -0600 (CST) From: tbittners@sprintmail.com (Matt Bittner) To: wwi@wwi-models.org Subject: Semi On Topic Book Message-ID: <200302261401.h1QE1Jp53011@king1.kingsnake.com> Just saw this book newly released. After 7 years I'm getting a brand spanking new desktop machine here at work. What does this mean? Well it means several things, but for the list it means we'll be getting new disks for the site, and a new version of unix (Linux) which will allow us to run a much more modern webserver, etc. The site currently exists on a 2GB disk partition. I think on the new machine I'll dedicate a 10GP partition to the site. This should keep us in disk space for a while. Eventually we'll probably even ditch the listproc software for a more modern version with web-based subscription. Once we get settled in on the new machine I'll most likely start working on an Oracle (database s/w) based image gallery software, which will allow us to maintain galleries via the web. This is all good news, although it will be a while before the machine is even ordered, so we'll run on the current machine at least another couple of months. Keep modeling! If you are looking for something specific, I will try to find it for you in the boxes of material. We have books and magazines that are available to all list members. The best way is to ask me directly. I have seen people ask for help and others have jumped in with their own sources, which are usually better or more specific. You are allowed to keep a book or material for 30 days, but it is asked that you pay for the postage both ways. I can also make copies of certain pages and send them to you. I have a new computer system and I still need to get a scanner for it, which would also make things a lot easier. I will let you know as books and things are donated so that all of you will know what is coming in. So let me know what you are looking for and I will check the libraries sources and even my own to help you out. ~Rick~ List Librarian > It has been my experience that you simply contact List Librarian Rick Ewing > and politely ask if he has any information on a subject.
