There was a couple of discussions on the W29 some time ago. In short (IIRC): EE (Toko repackaged) Fuselage correct for the prototype but not for the production versions and awful decals (more 1/48 than 1/72) MPM not bad and good decals, though detail on Toko's is better Wings of all of the above lack the characteristic kink I've heard that best wing (as far as the kink goes) is Pegasus. My name is Carlos, I live in Portugal and I am 42. Just came back to the hobby, after some 20 years of letargy. Like many others, I switched from WW2 to more atractive flying objects - WWI, but also golden age airliners and seaplanes. My hesitation in presenting myself lies in the fact I've nothing to show to you... But I know I can count on you. By now, two simple questions (some more will follow...) 1-What happened to MAP plan packs? are they still available after Scale Models take over? 2-I'm beginning "cutting" vac Sierra Albatros C.VII. In my references (Scale Models Sep. 79) ailerons tapers toward wingtips; in kit, wing has constant chord. Who's right, Ian Stair or Mr. Sierra? The kit I have has quite a bit of flash, and the parts have some flaws in them. It looks to me like this may have been a late release and the molds were getting worn. It took some work to get the interior parts to fit, but it is buildable. Shane Weier has a very good article on the WWI site. You can find it at http://www.wwi-models.org/misc/reviews/W29.html (Watch out for wrapping). I was thinking of Peter Cooke, the guy who builds those large scale Sp***res and things, as featured in Scale Models etc. I have used his paint mixture since I read it, with the exception of varnish, thats just too masochistic for me. The idea of the varnish was I think to make your paint flow better, white is of course for scale effect. I'm not sure if Peter Cooke had white in his mix, he wouldn't need it because he mixes his own paints anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if you do something like this, but I didn't want to get Clay screwed up trying to do something too silly. First of all, welcome from snowy Iowa in the USA! Pedro will be excited that we have doubled the number of Portugese listees... I can take a look at my own references, which include Windsock Datafile # 77 on this airplane.
