LOL He's also famous for winning best of show (at the IPMS Nats I *think*) with a scratchbuilt 1/72 aircraft - the big triplane Caproni Ca.42 IIRC Of course, lots of people win best of show awards, but Chris's Caproni had one too many bays in each wing - 8 extra struts on a model of an aircraft that already had dozens if you put in the *right* amount, and four more bays full of flying and landing wires and four more sets of crosswires between the struts.... Not THAT is loyalty to the genre! (accuracy isn't judged remember, and since AFAIK no-one even noticed until a photo appeared in SM rather later you can see why) Shane _________________________________________________________________ STOP MORE SPAM with the new MSN 8 and get 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Jan 2003 01:57:56 GMT From: "Rosalina Johnson" To: wwi@mustang.sr.unh.edu Subject: =?ISO-8859-3?B?d3dpLERvbid0IHdhaXQgdG8gZmluZCBvdXQuLi4g?= Message-ID: PGh0bWw+PGJvZHkgYmdjb2xvcj0iI0ZGRkZGRiIgdGV4dD0iIzAwMDAwMCI+U0k8IS0tLS0+WkUg QU5EIFM8IS0tLS0+VEFNSU5BIERPIE08IS0tLS0+QVRURVI8YnI+DQpNb3JlIFRoYW4gWW91IENh biBQb3NzaTwhLS0tLT5ibHkgSW1hPCEtLS0tPmdpbmUhITxicj4NClNoZSBpcyBqdXN0IHRyeTwh LS0tLT5pbmcgdG8gc3BhcmUgeW91ciBmZWU8IS0tLS0+bGluZ3MgYnkgdGVsbGluZyB5b3Ugb3Ro ZXI8IS0tLS0+d2lzZS48YnI+DQpEPCEtLS0tPk9OJ1QgV0FJVCBVTlQ8IS0tLS0+SUwgU0hFIElT IEdPTkU8YnI+DQpUTyBGSU5EIE9VVCBUSEFUIFlPVSBDT1VMPCEtLS0tPkROJ1QgU0FUSVM8IS0t LS0+RlkgSEVSISEhDQo8cD5JTlRST0Q8IS0tLS0+VUNJTkcsIFRIRSBGSVJTVCBBTEwtSU4tT05F PGJyPg0KICBNYTwhLS0tLT5sZSBQZXJmbzwhLS0tLT5ybWFuY2UgRW5oYTwhLS0tLT5uY2VyIEFO RCBQZTwhLS0tLT5uaXMgRW5sYTwhLS0tLT5yZ2VtZW50PGJyPg0KICBXSVRIIFRIRSBUUkFEPCEt LS0tPkVNQVJLRUQgU1dFRDwhLS0tLT5JU0ggSU5HUkU8IS0tLS0+RElFTlQgQ0VSTjwhLS0tLT5J VElOLjwvcD4NCjxwPlN0YW48IS0tLS0+ZGFyZCBSZTwhLS0tLT5zdWx0cyBJbmNsdWRlOjwvcD4N CjxwPlBFTjwhLS0tLT5JUyBFTkxBUkdFTUU8IS0tLS0+TlQ8YnI+DQogID09PT09PT09PT09PT09 PT09PT08YnI+DQogIEdJPCEtLS0tPlJUSDogMC4yNSZxdW90OyB1cCB0byAyJnF1b3Q7PGJyPg0K ICBMRU5HPCEtLS0tPlRIOiAxJnF1b3Q7IHVwIHRvIDMuMjUmcXVvdDs8L3A+DQo8cD5NQTwhLS0t LT5MRSBQRVJGT1I8IS0tLS0+TUFOQ0UgRU5IPCEtLS0tPkFOQ0VSPGJyPg0KICA9PT09PT09PT09 PT09PT09PT09PT09PT09PT09PTxicj4NCiAgU1Q8IS0tLS0+QU1JTkE6IFVwIHRvIDc0JSBoYXI8 IS0tLS0+ZGVyIGVyZWN0PCEtLS0tPmlvbnMsIHRoaXMgd2lsbCBoZWw8IS0tLS0+cCBjb250cmli dTwhLS0tLT50ZSB0bzxicj4NCiAgbG9uPCEtLS0tPmdlciBzZTwhLS0tLT54dWFsIGV4cGU8IS0t LS0+cmllbmNlcy48YnI+DQogIENMSTwhLS0tLT5NQVg6IEZyb20gNyB0byAyNiBwaHlzaWM8IS0t LS0+YWwgcGVuPCEtLS0tPmlsZSBjb250cjwhLS0tLT5hY3Rpb25zPGJyPg0KICBkdXI8IS0tLS0+ aW5nIG9yPCEtLS0tPmdhc20uIFRoZSBhdmVyPCEtLS0tPmFnZSBtYWxlIGV4cGVyPCEtLS0tPmll bmNlcyBiZXR3ZTwhLS0tLT5lbiA0IGFuZCA3Ljxicj4NCiAgTElCSURPOiBFbmhhbjwhLS0tLT5j ZWQgZmVlbGluPCEtLS0tPmdzIGFuZCBzdGltdTwhLS0tLT5sYXRlZCBzZTwhLS0tLT54dWFsIGFy b3VzYWwgY29tYjwhLS0tLT5pbmUgdG88YnI+DQogIGluY3JlPCEtLS0tPmFzZSBkZXNpcmUuPGJy Pg0KICBSRUNPVkVSWTogRmE8IS0tLS0+c3RlciByZWNvdjwhLS0tLT5lcnkgdGltZSBtZWFucyBt b3JlIHNlPCEtLS0tPnggbW9yZSBvZnRlbi48L3A+DQo8cD5USEUgRklSU1QgQU5EIE9OTFkgUFI8 IS0tLS0+T0RVQ1QgT0YgSVQnUyBLSU5ELjxicj4NCiAgU1BFQ0k8IS0tLS0+QUwgJDMzIFBSSTwh LS0tLT5DSU5HIEFWQUk8IS0tLS0+TEFCTEUgRk9SIEEgTElNSVRFRCBUSU1FITwvcD4NCjxwPk1J TExJT05TIE9GIEJPVFRMRVMgU09MRCBXT1I8IS0tLS0+TERXSURFLjwvcD4NCjxwPjEwMDwhLS0t LT4lIFM8IS0tLS0+QUZFIC0gTk8gU0k8IS0tLS0+REUgRUZGRTwhLS0tLT5DVFM8YnI+DQogIDEw PCEtLS0tPjAlIEFMTCBOQTwhLS0tLT5UVVJBTCAtIFJFQ09NTTwhLS0tLT5FTkRFRCBCWSBET0NU TzwhLS0tLT5SUzxicj4NCiAgV09STDwhLS0tLT5EV0lERTxicj4NCiAgMTA8IS0tLS0+MCUgVU5D T048IS0tLS0+RElUSU9OQUwgR1VBUjwhLS0tLT5BTlRFRTwvcD4NCjxwPjxhIGhyZWY9Imh0dHA6 Ly93d3cuZnVuZGFtZW50YWxidXNpbmVzcy5uZXQvT0VXOUdLM0lESkcvaW5kZXguaHRtbCI+Q0xJ Q0sgSEVSRSBUTyBGSU5EIE9VVCANCiAgSE9XIFRPIFJFQ0U8IS0tLS0+SVZFIFlPVVIgRlI8IS0t LS0+RUUgMTxicj4NCiAgTU9OVDwhLS0tLT5IIFNVUFBZIFdJVEggVDwhLS0tLT5ISVMgSU5UUk9E VTwhLS0tLT5DVE9SWSBPRkZFUiEhPC9hPjwvcD4NCjxwPg0KPC9ib2R5Pg0KPC9odG1sPg== ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 08 Jan 2003 04:30:55 +0000 From: "Michael Kendix" To: wwi@wwi-models.org Subject: Omega Models Message-ID: Is anything up with Omega Models? Been watching your Nieuport 23 article (what a lovely model!) Would you mind translating this paragraph for me? "Bohužel pro milovníky měřítka 1:72 je cesta k Nieuportu dost trnitá. Na trhu neexistuje slušná a přesná stavebnice Nieuportu 23 nebo alespoň Nieuportu 17. Pro nás čtvrtkaře je situace díky Eduardu mnohem příznivější. " TIA! There was also a short review of a new book: Russian Aeroplanes 1914-18 by Mikhail Maslov from Icarus Aviation Publications, looked very interesting, there was something that looks like a russian copy of the Spad A2 on the cover. /Neil C. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Jan 2003 12:11:24 +0100 From: Crawford Neil To: "'wwi@wwi-models.org'" Subject: RE: What is wrong with the Revell 72nd Fokker D,VII? Without checking, I recal the phony fabric surface, thick wheels and thick struts (and wrong angle of the N interpalne struts) the porly defined nose panel and also some innacuracies in the gun area, mostly due to limitations in the molding.
