Thanks Lance. I am running across significant differences. For instance, the Jenny seems to have an "X" rigged between the fore and aft "kingpins" on each top wing, whereas the Canucks are missing it. The pulley picture helps, but there also appears to be extra rigging "on and about" the control rods linking the ailerons on upper/lower wings. I have yet to find something showing how is it rigged at the top of the control rods. On the Canuck, a cable should extend from the fuselage out to where the pulley in the picture is, but I don't know if there is a return cable along the top wing from port aileron to starboard aileron. (The Jenny had the aileron control cable on the top wing.) I may just have to leave the aileron cable off, since I'm unsure of how to route it. Not real sure of how to simulate the pulleys, either. I don't think it'll be missed, considering how much other rigging I have to add. Paul ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 03 Jan 2003 14:54:10 -0600 From: "Lance Krieg" To: Subject: Re: More Canuck Troubles Message-ID: Paul utters a discouraging word: " Not real sure of how to simulate the pulleys, either." These are simple to make with sheet plastic and two sizes of Waldron punches. Stack up three disks of .005 or .010 plastic in a large-small-large, and voila! Also, you can use 2 PE washers over a small brass post embedded in the model surface. The washers create the outer shell and the post becomes the inside sheave; these are very strong, of course, and are great for long control runs. But as to where you should put these on a Canuck, and to what they should be connected, I do not know. I NEVER touch the sides of the punch with anything. After I'm done I'll hold the same wet-n-dry in my finger tips and rotate the punch at the tip for one spin/circle. .. Super light pressure ONLY, barely touch the abrasive. I generally do things like this dry 'cause its easier for me to monitor by the sheen of the paper. .. That's my method. .. I find that i end up putting more thought and effort into the rigging on some of these models than anything else- and I just attempt to get the main wires in. It is also a process that starts as soon as the first pieces are glued together; thinking ahead about how to do the rigging, where and when to drill the holes, etc. Results are worth it though, there's just something about a biplane, especially in 1/72, with all that spidery webbing of "wires." This is again a trick of the virus in someone's computer, since my computer at work has been shutdown since the 19th December, when I started holidays (which BTW will be ending next monday ;-(....). So if anyone gets anything direct from pnsoares@naer.pt do not open it and delete it. If I contact anyone from work directly from next tuesday on, I'll include something in the subject line to make sure it's done on purpose and not another random virus infected message. Again, thanks to Ken for alerting me this. Sorry for the inconvenience, but it's really not my fault guys. It scans address books on the infected PC, and randomly inserts an address taken from it. That's how the "author" designed it to spread itself. The odds are that whoever has the infection will not even show up as one of the "sent from" addresses on the email messages. I have been bombarded this week with infected emails, so it is **possible** someone on the list **may** have an infection.
