Subject: PRIVATE Message-ID: <3E0C8B08001C72B1@mta4.wss.scd.yahoo.com> (added by postmaster@mail.san.yahoo.com) IN VIEW OF YOUR PROFESSION INTRODUCTION: I am Princess Rose Ike, daughter of Osi Ike, the king of Ogoni Kingdom. I am 23 years old and a graduate of Mass Communication My father was in charge of Reviving royalties from the multi-national oil companies and government on behalf off the oil producing communities in Nigeria before he die. But before his death, he called me and told me he has Twelve Million Seven Hundred thousand Dollars (US$47M) cash in his possession, specially deposited in AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK GROUP (ADBG). He advised me not to tell anybody except my mother who is the last wife of the (8) eight wives that he married. My mother did not bear any male child for him. Which implies that all my father's properties, companies' etc, we have no share in them because my mother has no male child according to African tradition. My father there fore secretly gave me all the relevant document of the said money, and told me that I should use this money with my mother and my younger sisters, because he knows that traditionally, if he dies we cannot get anything, as inheritance. He importantly advised me that I should seek foreign assistance and that I should not invest this money here in Nigeria because of his other wives and male children who happen to be my elders. I am soliciting for your immediate assistance to get a bungalow for us, wherein will live with my mother and two younger sisters and further advise me where and how I will invest the balance money overseas, possibly on products of your company and other profitable ventures. I believe that by the special grace of God, you will help us move this money out of African Development Bank Group to any country of your choice where we can invest this money judiciously with your idea. You are entitled to a reasonable part of this Money based on our agreement, and God will bless you as you help us. I've built only a handful of ot kits in the last 5 years, everything else has been WWI aircraft or WWI airplanes in RCW colors. I was at the hobby shop the other day and saw the ot Glencoe Curtiss Condor. Always liked the plane, so I grabbed the kit. It's a box scale model that was released over 40 years ago and which Glencoe has re-issied with additional parts and decals. Only interior is the coat of dark gray paint I gave it. It's a straight OOB build heavy on IPMS basic skills. Just what the doctor ordered. Very satisfying to concentrate on basic assembly and surface prep. The wing to fuselage fit and the nacelle to wing fit were atrocious and I have spent 5+ hours on sanding alone. Low & behold, all sorts of problems I've been dithering about while I watch the Breguets gather dust have been resolving themselves. Kinda like the old saying, "When I works I works hard, When I sits I sits loose and when I thinks I falls asleep. Sitting and thinking about the Breguets or whatever WWI project is stalled on the bench usually puts me to sleep. Agressively sanding on an old, ill fitting kit gets me thinking agressively and all sorts of problems find solutions. Lots of old kits like this about. Its easy to concentrate on basics and build the best model the kit can produce without corrections or super-detailing when you don't have a DF, an article from WWI Aero and 16 printed out e-mail responses to arcane questions to feed the AMS. It's a strain to keep AMS in check on an OT subject, but surprisingly, I find it natural to do so on a simple model of a cool ot plane. I expect I'll be doing more ot OOB builds like this because they are FUN and because of that the stalled WWI build now seems fun again too. sp ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 2 Jan 2003 07:23:00 -0600 (CST) From: tbittners@sprintmail.com (Matt Bittner) To: wwi@wwi-models.org Subject: Re: IM Nieuport Review - Question for Matt Message-ID: <200301021323.h02DN0f83903@king1.kingsnake.com> > Does the 17bis kit have the rounded 24/27 type ailerons? While I can't give a 100% "it's the same as the Nie.17" answer, I did look at G's review of the Nie.25 back in March of last year. And the wing of the Nie.25 is a lot different than the Nie.17bis. So, from comparing the scans from my review and G's review, I would say that the Nie.17bis has the "correct" Nie.17 wing. Just what the doctor ordered. I suspect this is what occured with the SPAD A.2 I've been laboring on. A lot to "bring up to current levels" on the Amodel kit, so it's grown worn, and tired. Lo and behold, work on an off-topic, *short run* kit, and even though it's frustrating, there's no corrections/AMS to be done (primarily because it's a prototype and not much has been written on it) but there is plenty of work to bring it into current levels - thinning, seam filling, etc. Which is probably why working on the SPAD when I can has been fun lately. I have another part added to the fuselage, so it's almost ready for painting. Some more p/e parts to add and to the airbrush room it goes. But I've also been looking over Nieuports lately - all of 'em, including the Revell and ESCI ones - and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed again. As you can see in my review, there's work to be done on the Choroszy Nie.17, and the only difference between the work on it and the work on a Revell are the flying surfaces - with the Choroszy there's no need to work on the flying surfaces to correct them. However, there still is correction/AMS work to be done on the fuselage, and it's a bit daunting. I've also been stalled on the Strutter because of having to re-add the turtledeck. Should I do it the way I did the SPAD? Should I try another method sent to me by Herr Hustad? Just thinking about it starts my left eye twitching. ;-) Matt Bittner ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 02 Jan 2003 21:58:42 +0800 From: Volker Haeusler To: wwi@wwi-models.org Subject: Happy New Year - was:DWC - Liberty engine and greetings Message-ID: <004b01c2b267$1053d3e0$0301a8c0@com1> First, a (belated) Happy New Year to all listees - Just came back from a short trip to one of the neighbouring islands over here, and I´m still having to catch up with the list traffic from the last days... but hey, Knut Erik, > You might find some photos of Liberty engines on the wwi homepage under > DH 4 and 9 as I have photographed the one on display in the RAF Museum > and another one at Duxford. > > The problem is that I will not get home from the Bay of Bengal for four > more weeks - I am currently working onboard the R/V Ramform Vanguard, > with probably Volker being the list member closest to me. that´s just in front of my doorstep - I basically see the bay of Bengal (well, actually the Straits of Melacca) from my living room. If I´m not wrong, this list shows aroung 80 (eighty) OT resins available from the Luedemann workshop - not a bad achievement, if one considers that the first kits came out only 2 years ago.. Caveats (on that list) include: - the Friedrichshafen G III is ready as a kit, but was not available for sale yet, as the boxes and instructions were not yet ready The Friedrichshafen comes in THREE versions, as a early G III, as a later version with the Kastenleitwerk (box tail) to improve assymetric hndling and as a (highly interesting, if slightly ot) civil airliner version with a passenger cabin. Nice options, but the multi part fuselage made necessary by these options maybe slightly complicates assembly. - the AEG G IV (which according to Detlef Schorsch is based on a refined version of the original master of his own (vacformed) Classic Plane model) was not yet available - likewise, the Knoller C II (that failed AH "super plane") was still missing However, I just had to decide today to go back to Europe in another urgent business trip (actually starting of tomorrow), so I actually hopw I find the time to also visit the Modellbaustudio again - maybe there´s something new in again... Just what the doctor ordered. I agree and other variations are possible. If you need a quick build to get out of a rut, rather than take the old-kit route, try going the other direction with a Tamigawa type of thing. The kit may be more expensive (my Tamiya Corsair was $20) but that was the only expense needed - no aftermarket, cockpit interior extras needed, and there's loads of reference information avaiable on the web, so it's not as expensive an enterprise as you'd think. Made a nice Christmas present for my ex-WW2 U.S. Navy pilot nextdoor neighbour: he flew PBY's but I wasn't up to building one of those in 2 weeks. Basically OOB, with jsut those minimum changes (like leaving away the turret side reserve tracks) that the internet tells you about the kit, and I´m having an awful lot of fun. But then I must admit that of the 6 kits I finished in ´02 only 2 were OT (but maybe I took the others - all planes - to serious as well)... ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 2 Jan 2003 15:21:21 +0100 From: Crawford Neil To: "'wwi@wwi-models.org'" Subject: Pedros Gotha Message-ID: I didn't get re-sub'd properly, so instead I looked at Internet Modeller.
