They eliminated the unsightly scratches from construction, dings, etc. made while building. Secondly, they assisted in stopping metal fatigue cracks by having the overlapping circles, sort of, stop the cracking on scratches, etc. and also it looked nice. The dry transfers are fairly easy to apply, ans once applied, stay on quite well. They are intended to be painted over, and then highlighlighted. The Archer sheet has stitching in various sizes, and I found that the one marked 1:72 was ever so slightly too big 1:48. I recently acquired some fotocut 1:48 PE stitching. However, I think it is oversize, - perhaps the 1:72 version may be more to scale. regards Sanjeev ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2002 00:28:54 EST From: VMA324Vagabonds@aol.com To: wwi@wwi-models.org Subject: AOL email how to fix? The datafile has a similiar aircraft for the first profile. The datafile has much more coverage than the FMP book or the Crowood Airco book. Each has about two or 3 pages and 5 or six photos none of which are as good quality as the datafile. The plans are more detailed in the datafile. I had the references at hand since I am packing all my books and models away in readiness to move house next month. Yay I will have an entire room to build models, instead of the kitchen. Message-ID: <004a01c2a1a2$5c3a1740$08482dcb@future> I have the HobbtCraft Nie17, which Robert Owen sent me his sratch built seart to go in it sometime ago. What my question is concerns the wheels covers in the kit. They have a stitching effect and also a spoke through the cover affect. I have gone through the Nieuport Specials and can't find a photo of the wheels at all. So can anyone confirm if the cover in the kit is correct, or should they be smooth? F I was thinking.. Maybe changing the reflectance IS the whole point. I've only seen this type of surface treatment on natural metal cowls. So it might just be an attempt to break up the glare. just a thought Mark ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Dec 2002 00:28:49 -0600 From: "Lee M."
