I have only ever held you in the highest regard on this list and find you to be one of the most helpful and knowledgeable people here. Unfortunately, on the list there seems to be a double standard on who can say what and when. It's always been that way since I've been on the list and more often than not it doesn't bother me. What does bother me is when I point out those inconsistencies, I'm made out to be the bad guy for speaking up. Then the misrepresentations start, people chime in without a clue as to the original posts, and then the whole thing usually degenerates into some dopey dialogue unrelated to the theme of the original. After pondering the fact that you are responding in a second language, I will concede that your intent wasn't to be harshly critical, but more constructive. I hope from my comments, you can see where they may not be taken in a positive light. I hope you don't view what I have said as an attack because it was merely a criticism of your "critique." The only time I have ever "attacked" anyone here was when Tom Cleaver became insulting and rude in response to me after I took a contrary view to his style of kit review. And even then, I remained polite and professional. They are purported to be "the most successful two-seater crew of the German Air Service," according to theaerodrome website, with 9 combined kills. Huffzky is credited with 9 while Ehmann claimed 14, was credited with 12. Ehmann's first credited kill was on Oct 30 1917, second Mar 21 1918 and 3rd on apr 24 1918. The remainder were shared with Huffzky. My curiosity is piqued by the gap between Ehmann's 1st & 2nd kills. Did the intensity of the air war subside twixt the dates, was Ehmann wounded & in hospital? When I finally get around to taking some pictures I'll send photos to list archive. Currently I'm working on a Blue Max SE5a but its going slow. Could it be Blue Max burn-out? Meanwhile my to build stack just gets bigger and bigger (all those new Special Hobby L! > loyd C. > Vs, SPAD 7s and Sopwith > Tabloids) to add to my closets full of previous to builds. Anyway I have a question for the list. In the last week I have tried to access both the Pegasus/Blue Max/Silver Cloud and Copper State Models web sites only to get they aren't there messages. Does any know whats up? At any rate its fantastic to be back with the greatest bunch of loonies on the internet. Talk to y'all later. > > Alvie > > ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 26 Nov 2002 13:23:42 +1000 From: "Shane Weier" To: wwi@wwi-models.org Subject: Re: I'm Back Message-ID: Alvie says: >After what seems an eternity I, Alvie, am once more able to access the >list. I'm confused. Didn't anyone tell you it's an offence to actually *build* models ;-) Especially the allegedly unbuildable ones? > When I finally get around to taking some pictures I'll send photos >to >list archive. Good. Then I can save the PICTURES PICTURES chant for someone else. > Currently I'm working on a Blue Max SE5a but its going slow. Could >it >be Blue Max burn-out? Nah, even I managed to build a BM SE-5a without burnout >Anyway I have a question for the list. No idea about BM but CSM's site is being worked on and will be up again when Eric finishes his 1/8 scale Staaken. He said so. I clearly remember. >Does any know whats up? Nice to see you were both busy modeling while away from this list. Up until Saturday I was subbed through my work email, but with the inevitable purchase of a PC for home I will now have to view list traffic on my time. I sure hope it doesn't cut in to my modeling time. Alvie, re: Copperstate - there was a server crash that effected Eric's site - should be up and running again soon. Now back to modeling. Graham ps Alvie, what markings did you do the M1.C in? ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Nov 2002 19:38:11 -0800 From: Ray To: wwi@wwi-models.org Subject: Re: OT builds at XVIth Annual Air Force Museum National Message-ID: <200211251938.11989.Ray_Boorman@telus.net> Ah you mean you want a pfalz sunny side up. hmmm would you like your Spad crispy with vegemite of marmite!
