Simply put, I believe the cost of production, in particular, the set-up costs, are massively reduced for resin kits. Depending upon the technology used, the sety-up costs for a "Normal" non-short run injection mould kit, may run into the several hundred thousands of dollars range. For resin kits, the costs is a small fraction of that. The outcome, as Neil says, is that resin kits an serve the minority interest in the hobby - subjects for which demand at any reasonable price is limited. See those bumps on the upper wing, near the center? those are cranks for the rocker tubes connect wit the ailerons. There was no rigging associated with aleron control. There were two rods linked with the control column from the joystick to the cranks on the wing. > Question 3--I have been reading something about using MEK as a plastic > cement. One thing that worries me is how binding would a request be? For instance I would like a Pegasus Spad 12, they seem to be out of production, so I might put that on my want-list. But what happens if somebody turns up with one on Friday, I'm planning a book buying spree on Thursday, by Friday I'll be bankrupt, so if someones picked up a kit for me, I might have suddenly lost interest. The Want list must remain almost completely free of any commitment. It should simply be treated as a common bulletin board where people post their wanted Ads. The seller-to-be should first directly contact the wanter, before purchasing the item - or he may choose to buy it anyway and take the risk of being stuck with it. A few (moral) responsibilities are in order: 1- If a wanter changes her mind and no longer wants a kit, she must tell the list maintainer as soon as possible. 2- the list maintainer must keep the list up-to-date (updated atleast once a week or whatever). Dear Sir, SEEEKING FOR URGENT ASSISTANCE. It is my sincere pleasure to request your assistance on this business proposition, which if pursued to it's reasonable conclusion, will be of great benefit to both of us.This request may seem strange, but i will crave your indulgence and pray that you view it seriously. My name is Barr.Laurent Kamala of the Democratic Republic of Congo.I was one of the close aides to the late president of Congo Democratic Republic,LATE LAURENT KABILA of blessed memory, may his soul rest in peace. Due to the military crisis and instability in my country,i was instructed by him (late president kabila) to move out the sum of $20.5 MILLION(Twenty Million,Five Hundred Thousand US dollars) for safe keeping and to search for a foreign Affiliate/Partner who will be able to help us invest this capital in any profitable business venture. This money, is presently deposited in a private security finance company in Amsterdam (The Netherlands). I am urgently looking for a foreign partner with good business experience, that is reliable and trust worthy,to help me move and receive the above said amount of money out of the Netherlands in to any account of yours. The account required for this transaction can either be personal, company or an offshore account that you can have total control over.Your area of specialization will not be a hindrance to the sucessful execution of this transaction. This fund was brought into the Netherlands for investment purpose, through diplomatic means and tagged an official consignment belonging to a foreign affiliate and placed in a crate and tagged antique, there by making the consignment safe and the actual contents undisclosed to the security company. Though we have not seen nor met each other, but i would want this transaction to be properly handled with modesty and honesty to a huge success within two weeks, this money in question,is a state fund, as it is a DEAL between you and i,hence the need for secrecy considering the security implications. Thus,if you can assist me to move this fund out of the Netherlands, you will be entitled to 30% of the amount, while the remaining 70% will be for me.Please contact me through my e-mail address for further directions. Please also note that you will be required to assist me in any profitable area of investments in your country. I shall be sincerely glad,if my request is considered, for i am really counting on you,for your help. This is one of the msgs that, I guess, got hung up somewhere and so it's quite a bit out of date. I've got a whole box of stretched sprue at this point so I'll hold off on trying ceramic wire as I'd really like to work on a model rather than experiment any more :-) > I'm watching tennis right now [well, actually I'm writing this msg] and at > the same time I'm teaching myself to make stretched sprue. Probably true; however, I think we can have a gentle-person's agreement that if one posts a want, it implies that one will still want it when someone else finds it. In other words, in addition to Sanjeev updating the list with wants, the people with wants should promptly tell him to remove items they no longer want (Moral Responsibility #1) > The seller-to-be should first directly contact the wanter, before > purchasing the item - This could be tough to do if someone is at a garage sale and finds the OOP Naglo Quadraplane that Diego wants... > or he may choose to buy it anyway and take the > risk of being stuck with it. I suggest that wants be posted by manufacturer, airplane name, and highest price willing to be paid (exclusive of postage). And include the wanter's email address. And that Sanjeev have the option of discontinuing the want list if there seems to be little interest in it, at his discretion. I, for one, would probably print out the list and take it with me when I go on the road. Karen ------------------------------ End of WWI Digest 4651 **********************
