Don't joke, Grzegorz, don't joke
In WWI times Czechs had takeen big part in AH navy. Biger then Polish! :-)
They served mostly in technican or high-specialist functions. Eg engineers,
medical and mainly as gun crew. And the same about officers. Do you know
names like Lerch or Hudecek? Both were very sucsefull czech submarine
capitains. Navy Air Force commander was Linienschiffleutnant Vaclav Vosecek
(sometimes known in german spelling as Wenzel Wosecek) - another Czech.
Czech "mariners" taken 1/10 in total numbers, 1/3 in Navy Air Force and on
submarines. Among officers on gunners, medicals and designs positions they
had taken mayority. Most of NCOs were Austrians and Czechs. The guns were
from Skoda Plzen (Pilsen) and armour plates (except on St. Isztvan) were
from Vitkovice! I know, it is past, but don't joke about it. If you image,
that we have no sea (our motto in twentees was Air is our sea), we can be
proud! :-)
It is a little OOT, but there are two very good czech (I know you can read
it) books by Jiri Novak about AH navy. They are "Bitva o Jadran" (Battle for
Adriatic) and "Torpedo pal!" (Torpedo, fire!). First is about AH navy
operations and second about sharks of AH navy - about subs. I highly
reccomend You both.
BTW
Tomorrow I am traveling for 5 days to London. So RAF Museum, Imaperial War
Museum and HMS Belfast are on my list.
Have a good day.

This harks back to a sign in a Cypriot tailor shop: "is speaking of
seven language of which is speaking of english most best"
To bring this linguistic discussion back "OT" - what did the French call
the "one-and-a-half strutter"? Le Sopwit'? Come to think of it, the
Germans would have had trouble with 'Sopwith' as well...

First, Tom Solinski sent in an image of a British Heavy tank.
Second, Diego sends in a new figure image (neat!).
Third, Larry Marshall has been added to the gallery with - I
think - his first WW1 kit, a very nicely done Roland C.II.
Finally, Ken Schmitt is now added to the gallery with a couple -
a nicely built Fokker F.I and a very nice SPAD 7.
Well done, one and all!!

Larry,
very well done! My first WWI kit was also the Roland C.II, but in the right
scale ;-) and believe me, yours is amazing!
And the other new additions are great too! Another streaked Fokker to show
me how to do things decently (I'm still making experiences with streaked
camo)...

I'd buy into this except for all this stainless rigging that will surely not
take kindly to dusting of any manner.

You're right, Dave. This is another virtue of 1/72 - there's less surface
to catch dust [GD&R]

Is anybody volunteering to do a bulk order to US? The cost of

Welcome to the list, Michal (Tony). Which name shall we call you?
Don't let the others confuse you. Build what YOU want in the scale YOU
want, and in the way YOU want! If you like 1/48, build it. If you like
1/72, build it. If you want to add lots of detail, do it. If not, then
don't do it. And most important, if you build something that isn't WWI,
don't talk about it here!!!!! ;)
Your English will be just fine. If you stay here very long, I think it will
improve, unless you learn to talk like us Americans. ;) We use a lot of
colloquialisms and abbreviations, so if you don't understand something, just
ask. There usually aren't very many insults going around on this list.

Hi,
I got this response back from Achim Engels.
I will volunteer to do the ordering if we can get maybe, atleast 10
orders in US and Canada. Even with airmail, this should come to
about usd 4 for reshipping each CD.
Note that he has other CDs for sale too.

Hi,
We have a flat shipping rate that covers up to 20 CD´s.
That means that up to 20 CD´s do cost $ 10 by surface (takes up to 10
weeks
to reach destination) and $ 20 US by airmail (1-2 weeks).
As you can see it is for sure best to place a multible order in order
to
save on shipping costs.
Best

There was a rumor passing around when I spoke to some model company reps
from the Czech Republic several years ago. They indicated that Eduard might
put out a plastic version of some of the Hippo models or that one of the
then "new" resin manufacturers might be doing them. Spin was one of the new
companies they alluded to. As you can see, the Aviatik appeared a good
while later as a Flashback kit, but the M5 has not re-surfaced.
Heck, I've been out of WWI circulation so much over the last year or two, I
didn't know that Eduard was putting out an Albatros DII until Jim told me
the other day that he'd finally tracked one down... Just think of all the
anticipation I missed out on!
