The leather part of the seat I've painted in a pale maroon leather colour, to match that of the coaming around the front cockpit that shows in the photos of a Bebe in Le Bourget, although of course this doesn't seem to be Macchi built. Does anyone know what types of wood were used in the cockpit, eg for the seat back, dashboard and floor? Would it have been stained or just varnished? Mmm, 1/72 or 1/48th ? It might be good enough for 1/48th but maybe 1/72 will be too fine - but I could be wrong !! You will have a bit of resin to sand off from the open face of the mould. On the other hand (AMS suggestion) there are etched Albatros radiatros available (And decal ones IIRC !!) On the subject of Humbrol & thinning, beware Humbrol thinners - when Humbrol changed the formulation of their paint to 'Super Enamel' they brought out a new 'Super Enamel Thinners' which is obviously compatable with the Super Enamels, but there are some incompatabilities - IIRC the old thinners are not compatabile with the new paints, where as the new thinners are Ok with the old paints (Or was it the other way round ?) And for the horrible never drying square bottles, the only person I ever knew who claimed success with them was some one who thinned them with cellulose thinners and sprayed them. (BTW, it's alleged that the never drying property is a result of their never yellowing property !!) Dave ------------------------------ End of WWI Digest 4443 **********************
