Message-ID: <3CEECEBB.5020901@tampabay.rr.com> I have the Merlin JN-4 kit in 1/72, (kit #31). It is one of the good ones. As good or better than the average Pegasus. Very nice surface detail. Haven't put the parts to plans or ruler, but it lookis like a Jenny. There is also the occasional Aurora Jenny in quarter scale. I'm unaware of any vacs or resins, but I expect I learn something soon. sp Bill & Kaja Michaels wrote: > I hope this isn't a beaten-to-death topic..... > > What options are there for a JN-4 in 1/72 scale? > > I was browsing on the Squadron web page, and noticed that Blue > Max has a 1/72 scale decal sheet for the Jenny. If I can't answer immediately I know where to get the answer, and, on't take very long. I see the mention of a +4 lense. Remember that a +1 and +3 = +4. A set of 3 can got to +6. The entire mess is mathmatics carried way down the road. So just do the best you can and that is where the TTL really gives a big push. The digital is, basically, a wide angle operation with very short focal length. (Internal lense shifting gives some telephoto effect.) All it does is follow the rules as well or a wee bit better than most film cameras due to that short focal length. Message-ID: Most probably all off those have already been named, but here´s the list I´m aware of: Pegasus: Nice kit of a standard JN-4 with the wing cutout, oop (actually that one seemed to sell quite badly, as Chris Gannon once "threw them away" for only 3,50 pounds during the (91?) Southern Expo in Hornchurch) Merlin: actually one of their better kits, again oop Esoteric: a "Naval Jenny" on floats, superb little kit as all Esoterics, but oop as the owner passsed away Classic Plane: Also one of the better vacs from Detlef Schorsch, oop, but I´m quite sure he still got a few left in his shop. Maybe the only option to get a Jenny at this moment Then there is also a Czech resin Jenny. I don´t think it´s from "Czechmaster", most likely from HR (Jan Hora) and maybe only a copy of the Pegasus kit (I can not comment onm that one, as I´ve only seen it in Detlef Schorsch´s shop). Finally, and I might be wrong here, Veeday also did a Jenny, but that will be most probably hard to find and not worth that effort at all. But I can only remember an advertisment for that one, so I´m not even sure whether it was ever produced. Message-ID: <102228981202@smtp-2.vancouver.ipapp.com> I am now comfortable using my 50mm lense with a doubler. I get as close as I can and then use the maximum F-stop allowed with the lense and have the flash set to manual. I have taken shots of the white styrene details on my Flower in this way and they come out nice and clear from about 1-2 feet away... One thing to note is the flash may actually go over the item being shot, so it is sometimes necessary to remove it and hold it off to the side. For other shots I use the same setup, but from further back. This has worked to shoot the inside of my display case and also for closeup details of 54mm figures as well as the interior of the Flower's bridge. Prior to getting the flash, I would set up in the foyer to my house and use the door to reflect light on the rear of the model while having it lit from the window adjacent to the door. With a little practice (and one or two rolls) you will learn what works for you and how to get almost perfect shots each time. When I have a failure now it is due to my forgetting to set the shutter speed to the flash - the joys of a totally manual 1967 Pentax .. which reminds me, does anyone know roughly what a screwmount lense with variable zoom would cost? I have a 28mm, 50mm, 200mm and a doubler, but it is sometimes a pain to change setups quickly. In advance I'd advise squinting to view but without the bending down part :-) Cheers --- Larry ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 May 2002 11:43:01 +0800 From: Smartechgroup Subject: =?gb2312?q?SIM=BF=A8=B4=F3=CA=A63=A3=A8=D2=BB=BF=A8=C9=D5=B0=CB=BA=C5=A3=AC=B5=A5=BB=FA=CC=EC=CF=C2=CD=A8=A3=A9?= Message-ID: <3CEEB8460001348E@mta01.san.yahoo.com> (added by postmaster@mail.san.yahoo.com) This is a multi-part message in MIME format --4796b1dc-23df-4725-98f1-bab42730aafa Content-Type: text/html; charset=gb2312 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable =C4=FA=BA=C3=A3=A1 =B8=D0=D0=BB=C4=FA=B3=E9=BF=D5=D4=C4=B6=C1=D5=E2=B7=E2=D3=CA=BC=FE=A1=A3=CE=D2= =CB=BE=D6=A3=D6=D8=CF=F2=C4=FA=CD=C6=BC=F6=A1=B0SIM=BF=A8=B4=F3=CA=A63=A1=B1= =B2=FA=C6=B7=A1=A3 =B9=A6=C4=DC=CC=D8=B5=E3=C8=E7=CF=C2=A3=BA =CA=A1=C8=B1=BB=BB=BF=A8=C2=E9=B7=B3=A1=A3 =C7=E1=CB=C9=CA=B5=CF=D6=D2=BB=BF=A8=B6=E0=BA=C5=A1=A3 =BC=E6=C8=DD=B8=F7=B3=A7=C5=C6=CA=D6=BB=FA=A1=A3 =C4=DC=B4=A2=B4=E6190=B8=F6=B5=E7=BB=B0=BA=C5=C2=EB=BA=CD10=D4=F2=B6=CC=D1=B6= =A1=A3 =D4=F6=C7=BFPIN=C2=EB=C9=E8=B6=A8=B5=C4=B9=A6=C4=DC=A3=ACPIN=B5=C4=C7=B0=C8=FD= =B8=F6=CE=BB=BD=AB=BB=E1=C8=CE=CA=B9=D3=C3=D7=D4=D0=D0=C9=E8=B6=A8=A3=AC=B4=EF= =B5=BD=B7=C0=B5=C1=D3=C3=B5=C4=C4=BF=B5=C4=A1=A3 ........... =CF=EA=C7=E9=B2=CE=BF=BC=CE=D2=CB=BE=CD=F8=D2=B3=A1=A3 http;//www.smartechgroup.com =C1=AA=CF=B5=C8=CB=A3=BA=CD=F5=C9=FA/=CE=BA=C9=FA Email:rich878@sohu.com =C1=AA=CF=B5=B5=E7=BB=B0=A3=BA =CF=E3=B8=DB=A3=BA00852-21423378 =B9=E3=D6=DD=A3=BA020-34513378 =D7=AA 17 / 20 =C9=EE=DB=DA=A3=BA0755-8526339 =B1=B1=BE=A9=A3=BA010-62622902 =C9=CF=BA=A3=A3=BA021-64862740 --4796b1dc-23df-4725-98f1-bab42730aafa-- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 25 May 2002 00:09:10 -0400 From: "Bill & Kaja Michaels" To: wwi@wwi-models.org Subject: Sopwith Snipe Message-ID: <3CEED626.29090.262B655@localhost> I realize this may be old news to list members in the UK, but..... Here in the USA, I just received the latest issue of Flying Scale Models magazine (May 2002). It has a nice article on Peter McDermott's impressive RC scale Snipe, which is roughly 1/4 the size of the original. (Lot of photos of this impressive model.) Also in the mag is a nice article about the full scale Snipe, with photos, 1:40 scale drawings, and some color (or should I say colour?) profiles. In the US, you can sometimes find this magazine in the big bookstores, and some hobby shops that cater to RC fliers also carry it. Wise Owl is the US distributor, you can get individual copies or subscriptions from them...... -Bill Check out my US Coast Guard subjects model list at: http://www.tiac.net/users/billkaja/kitlist.htm ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 24 May 2002 21:57:28 -0700 (PDT) From: Todd Hayes To: wwi@wwi-models.org Subject: RE: Anybody Want In? Mr Bush's government has just slapped a 27% tariff on softwood coming into the US from Canada. As for duty on models, there doesn't appear to be any but Canada taxes all purchases, including imported purchases.
