Message-ID: <20020520144652.84445.qmail@web13003.mail.yahoo.com> Hello Gang, Does anyone know which crosses were actually on MVR’s 425/17 come the time of his death in April 1918??? :( Does anyone know the correctness of Eduards strange two cross decal scheme for markings for 425/17 come March 1918?? Where the crosses changed in April? Also, I have been looking at a picture in Peter Kilduff’s “The Red Baron, Beyond the Legend” which states that it is MRV’s 425/17 right before his death. But I did see this in another book, which stated that this was actually a captured Dr1 and not MRV’s 425/17. (For reference I mean the picture of the DR.1 with guards next to it, one on each side, and a person standing next to the cockpit.) Thanks for any information, Bill Anthony P.S. Yes I do not know the correct names for the German crosses other than the Maltese cross. So please do not hesitate to inform me on the correct names. : ) __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? LAUNCH - Your Yahoo! But, according to the Osprey book Fokker Dr.I Aces of WWI, 425/17 was first painted with Iron Crosses (those ones like the famous decoration - and for soccer fans, like the CR Vasco da Gama logo. The name in German, Eisesomething Kreuz, escaped from my mind, shame on me...) > Does anyone know the correctness of Eduards strange > two cross decal scheme for markings for 425/17 come > March 1918?? I don't have the kit here with me, but IIRC looks like a way to simulate the overpainting of Iron Crosses to give place to the new crosses. But folks who understand more of it can explain better. I hope this helps, and that our friends can give you additional info. If your lucky you might catch them on a flying weekend. They > currently fly a 1:1 SE5a, a 7/8ths SE5a, two 1:1 Fokker Dr.Is, a 1:1 Fokker > DVII, a 1:1 Nieuport 28 and are nearing completion of a 1:1 Bentley powered > Camel. Brad, is that an original Bentley rotary? I ask only because the rest of their fleet are powered by modern powerplants.
