And if I could buy them off the shelf, I could probably pick and choose, mix and match to my heart's content. But I can't and don't much like spending all my time mixing paints. I suspect I'll just use Humbrol and be happy, though I'm going to try some of the Misterkit acrylics. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 27 Apr 2002 18:56:50 -0400 From: "Mark C" To: wwi@wwi-models.org Subject: Hello and quick question Message-ID: Hello everyone, I just joined up, and (of course) I have a question. I am trying to locate a vendor for "Van's Scale Models" figurines. These are 1/48 resin figures with a WWI theme. I tried using the address given for Van's at the WWI site (4ears@wtrt.net), but it just came back as undeliverable. Anyone have any idea if they're still in existence - and if so, how to find them? Sopwith Hobbies carried them and talked about purchasing the molds to make them himself. I have heard nothing since then. What struck about the Turks and why I commented on the treatment of POWs is because we here down under hold the Turk soldier up as a very good soldier during Gallipoli... Those that looked after the POWs where really bad people. And where a stark contrast to the frontline Turk soldier. But what the Turk did plaes when compared to what the japs did and what the Russian did during and fater WWII. Let alone the Germans. I'm going to the UK on a business trip in about a week. (First time to visit.) I will be flying saturday night, and arriving in the UK on Sunday morning, early. That will leave me most of the day to recover and take advantage of being there for a day, before having to go do my work on Monday and Tuesday. (I know it is a holiday for some in the UK on the 6th, but not for me!) So, I've got Sunday, May 5 to spend on modelling -related activities. What should I do? I'd love to visit a well-stocked hobby shop! (Will the shops be open on a Sunday?) I'd love to find a shop that carries plastic, resin, stick and tissue free flight or electric RC model kits, especially OT ones. Does any of the group's UK members have any recommendations for shops or other points of interest for a List member?
