The double wires have no practical function, the second one is only there for safety as I understand it. If you've got two wires and one gets shot off, or fails, nothing happens, if you only have one wire, the wing will probably collapse. I found this table in the Docavia book about Bernhard. I couldn't transtale "Marche" , does it mean batch? , and what does "Avenant au 57 marche" mean? The fire that stopped production was in the Bernard factory at Corovenue (sp?) No more details on that, Bernhard built 2500 Spads, the remainder were Spad 13's. Also where it says 1918 in the table is not a (my) typo, they seem to have continued to build 11's even after the 16 started production. On the SA I'm working on now, I actually sanded into the kit's turtledeck, leaving a "ledge" that the "new sheet turtledeck" would fit "into". The only thing to worry about with that is a small seam, and no "step". It worked great on the underside, but I didn't sand enough out of the upper turtledeck to save myself from work. That's a great idea I must try on the uderside (I have left it with the lenghtwise "steps" molded/moulded on the kit parts) On the upper turtledeck there's no chance to do it as I've glues and faired the headrest. > Oh well, that's why it's called "modeling" and not > "building". :-) Tell me about it! All this brainstorming is helping mt to have a mental picture of what to do when I will refine the surface of the nieuport 28, as the revell kit shows the stringers "sucked in" along the rear fuselage.
