But from the vendors I picked up a copy of Armour Modelling Vol 22 (August 2000). This was a WWI issue, has the following dioramas on: "Doughboys & FT-17" (RPM kit & 4 figs) "The bearth of Mecanized Cavalry" (Birth of Mechanized - unless its built from Meccanos...) The Vickers-Clyno MkIII Gun Carrier and a 1913 Douglas Model R 2 3/4 hp motocycles (Scale Link UK) "Char d'Assault Schneider CA1" (scratchbuilt) - very nice "Army Uniforms of WWI" (7 figures, all well done) "Strumtruppen Paul" (One of the mis-proportioned big head figures the Japanese are fond of...) "Mk.A Whippet medium tank" (Emhar kit & 3 UK figs, 1 dead German - trench scene) "Landship Mk.IV tank" (Emhar kit) "Sturmpanzerkraftwagen A7V" (Tauro kit & 14 (!) figures) - very well done "Rolls Royce Silver Ghost Armored Car" (scratchbuilt 1/24 scale in brass) amazing (You can get this issue from HobbyLink Japan) I also picked up a few Windsock Datafiles and Minis from Aeroplane Books, an Eduard 1/72 Fokker D.VIII from an unk vendor and some medieval knight figures and a nice Pegaso 54mm von Richtofen from Sentinel Miniatures (see url for image) http://www.warweb.com/pegaso/54mm/54-111.jpg (And a WWII tracked item which Matt likely won't let me mention...) Couldn't stay thru the awards - so I don't know who won what, but it looked like a nice show - the boys from Virginia Beach were there promoting the IPMS USA Nationals, which are roughly a three hour drive from DC (Jul 31-Aug 3). ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 25 Mar 2002 16:01:33 -0300 From: "Diego Fernetti" To: Subject: RE: IPMS NoVA "Model Classic" report Message-ID: <030e01c1d42f$7b4119e0$4640a8c0@ssp.salud.rosario.gov.ar> > a nice Pegaso 54mm von Richtofen from > Sentinel Miniatures (see url for image) > http://www.warweb.com/pegaso/54mm/54-111.jpg Seems like Manfred has indulged himself in too much strüdel lately... Only one in that category. Yes, 'twas goodly show! Either the judges didn't notice my Albatros's problems or everyone else's kits had worse - First was a Grumman F3F in 1/48, I came 2nd and a 1/48th scale DML SPAD 13 came 3rd. There were about 10-12 entries. I took 2nd with the Oeffag C.II in vacs - Bob Wheeler's won with his brand new Argosy see (watch out - its off topic): http://members.tripod.com/~vlemodels/argosy.htm and a Koster 1/48th scale SSW D.III was 3rd. There were several hundred models total - I'm guessing at maybe between 300 to 400. I recommend it if you're in the Norther Virginia locale. I have the basic BR14 profile done as well as the various camouflage patterns it carried. I just need to do the shading and then get started on some profiles of it ... I actually started it about 3 years ago, but got side-tracked by other projects, but it would be fun to get a good selection of BR14s done up, especially as the PEgasus and Hi-Tech kits offer a wide scope for decals.
