The nice thing about list member victories is that when two list members meet, they both get a victory. The kit is pretty accurate. I took a set of 1/48th plans from the Datafile and blew them up at work to 1/32nd. For the most part it pretty much matches the plans. The kit is a scaled down version of the Revell 1/28th, so the problems that came from that kit have just been transfered. The struts are too long, and plus they built in rigging attachment points. The interior is not real good, but with the Datafile that can be added to and fixed up. The biggest problem I have had with it are the struts. I have scratched them from some "Strut" material I had purchased several years ago, made byContrails I believe. You must also be careful of how high the top wing sits. It will build into a pretty Camel if you take the time to do it right. Hope this helps. But there's no harm in trying they say. I have learned only recently that French uniform usage is a rather complex subject. Nonetheless, it seems that photographs show three, or four, different renditions of gray for the the tunics, colors represented being: Hussard (and Dragon?) light blue, medium blue "bleu d'horizon," dark blue, and something else, perhaps adoption of an unofficial khaki. The photograph of a line-up of GC 12 personnel at the address below appears to show these four renditions: http://pilots-n-planes-ww1.com/Allied/French/Pilots/G/Guynemer/Guynemer_33.j pg I would be interested in discussing which is which--probably off-List. In a scan from the S/S Spad In Action, Rene Fonck is shown beside one of his camouflaged SPAD VIIs at http://pilots-n-planes-ww1.com/Allied/French/Pilots/F/Fonck/Fonck_05.jpg Is the camouflage standard 5-color? If so, which is the lighter color immediately behind him, which the color to his left on which the stork is painted? What is the take on which color of tunic he is wearing? I had a great time in Sydney meeting Ross, Shane and Lorna, and the redoubtable Shane Weier. A wonderful dinner with much interesting modelling talk ensued. I would have liked to make the APMA meeting on the following Saturday, but, true to form, I slept in! (Sorry Shane and Lorna it wont happen again). I didn't see much that was OT in Sydney, only the Emden's gun in Hyde Park at the HMAS Australia memorial. I'm sure there must be more but I'll have to get the others to show me next time I'm there. Due to moving, my father's worsening health, and holidays, I haven't touched plastic seriously for nearly a month, (I think I'm developing a rash cos of this), and I'm thinking of starting up all over again soon no matter what. I've got a Triplane to finish! Shane: it is a great shame you are no longer subscribed, save up those Queensland dollars (the exchange rate is the same of the rest of the country isn't it? :-), get online, and get subscribed. I, for one, have missed your expansive modelling wisdom, your generosity, and your wit. In regard to your absence and the Triplane photos theory, I subscribe to more to Part B of that e-mail to Ross, which involves your boss and a certain much discussed German bomber from a certain modelling retail outlet (Ross knows). Also there was an interesting message on the most recent "Great Models Webstore" newsletter, addressing some of the complaints raised on this (and apparently other forums). Basically they say they keep an eye on all the modelling forums and have taken note of the complaints and are addressing them. They say they have employed extra people in the customer service section and that others who did work there have been moved elsewhere. They apologise to all for their inefficiencies and are reworking their system to address these. I don't know if this helps people, but at least they seem to be listening. Time will tell I guess. SAMI have shown the latest releases at the toy fairs (but no apology to Matt) in the March 2002 issue, which includes an Eduard Albatros W.4 in 1/48, which looks very nice. They also had three Camel kits on the way. Let's hope... Anyway, I'm rambling so I'll sign off (okay, its lonely beyond Lurk) Hi to (in no particular order) Shane, Shane and Lorna, Ross, Steve P, Brent, Diego, Bob, Matt, Lee, David Solosy, Rob Baumgartner (WA is my next holiday I think), Michael and everyone else.....
