Message-ID: <000901c1aa9c$f3f319e0$84a272d4@FRITZweb> Comrades-in-plastic, I am sitting on my working desk and I am looking at drying paint. ( In german there is a saying ' it's as exciting as looking at paint while it is drying'). This paint belongs to the propeller of my Albatros D.II ( eduard 1/48). I am seeing the finish line now. A lot of things went wrong this time. After the fuselage's never-drying-clear-coat I run in several other problems. Yesterday I discovered that the right lower wing's leading edge was not covered with paint, neither camo paint from above, nor light blue from below. Re-spraying three-tone-comauflage....? Sealing again with self mixed semi-closs? With never-to-achieve-the-same-sheen-again-semi-closs? I opted for brush painting, feathering out the 'overspray' with dump brush ( luckily I am a figure painter..). After drying I polished the leading edge with a medium soft paint brush to the exact sheen required! Ha! Another german saying: Misery makes inventive! Then I wanted the undercarriage get fixed. Location pins are nil, but I was too lazy to fiddle small brass pins into the gear. I used Cyano to fix the complete gear. After that I washed the grey gear with a oil / white spirit mix. Did you know that white spirit cracks cyano? Anyway, I was unhappy with the weak and soft axles and so I took the chance to replace them with brass rod. Very stiff and even simple cyano fixing is good for all. Then I tried to paint these axles grey. Believe me or not, I had to cover the axle 5 ( five!!) times with brush painted grey until every tiny, tiny, tiny brash sheen was eleminated.... Ah! Prop paint is dry! Till tomorrow!
