They sold the molds for the Ju-88A4 to Revellogram. They did release the JU-88C6. Ed Sexton - a big mugwump at Revellogram spoke at the IPMS97 in Dayton. He claimed that the castings were only a very small cost of producing a kit. I think DML is just not into investing in the promotion of aircraft kits. It is very visible inside cockpit. suggest you cut it from thin veneer (I used wood which is wrapped inside some cigar tubes (but, then, I also smoke 'em). Check out www.kithobbyist.com/largescaleplanes/articles for a BEAUTIFULLY rendered Dr.1. Also www.wwi-models.org/Photos/Ger/Fok_EV for a good idea of what the interior would look like (loose the lozenge fabric, and the Dr.1/E.V guts are very similar). However, it appears that it still must be said. Please, people. When you send me or Al images, pleasepleaseplease do *not* include spaces in the filenames. I know Windows allows one to do so, but Unix doesn't like them that much within the filename. If you want to separate "logic" within a filename, then either use a dash ('-') or an underscore ('_'). While I prefer underscores - since I'm a born and bred programmer :-) - it doesn't matter which type. Believe it or not, fixing spaces in filenames actually takes longer than creating thumbnails. I have to go in, "by hand", and replace all the spaces with underscores. This will help us with additions to the site. Still a lot of work to do, especially around the tail surfaces, but nonetheless, a few notches above the Smer/Merit copy of the original Aurora. Back to my #80 grit sandpaper.... It doesn't seem to be available here in the UK anymore either, not even from John. I've had 2 different sizes for about 10 years, great tool, never needed a replacement film (yet!!). It uses a steel abrasive surface rather than a grit based one. Maybe one of our Scandinavian listees could tell us if the tool/films are still available there ? dave ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Jan 2002 11:50:29 +0000 From: David Fleming To: wwi@wwi-models.org Subject: Re: Revell DVII Message-ID: <3C53E984.E49B7541@dial.pipex.com> The story I heard, and this is hearsay, is that DML DVII mould went to Hasegawa, and it's Hasegawa that Revell de have bought a load of lits from. that would explain the apparent price diff between the two WW1 kits due this year(£8 for the SE, £15 for the Fokker) This gets intruiging. dave ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Jan 2002 13:13:40 +0100 From: "Gaston Graf" To: Subject: a virus has been send to the list Message-ID: Just for your information. Hot damn. Yes, you can too and I'd forgotten all about it. Still really well worth reading. >> The only thing that peeves me is that the Sandvik tools he prefers seem to >> not be available anywhere in Oz. >It uses a steel abrasive surface rather than a grit >based one. I've read descriptions but never seen one in a pic close enough to see just what it's like. I *imagine* something like a Sureform (sp?) plane which has a replacable thin metal plate with a grid pattern of tiny cutting blades something like those on a food grater. I use a small one (palm sized) to shape wood when trying to rough out larger size patterns but it'd be far too coarse to work on a vacform shell. The Sanvik however....
