Lacquer doesn't seem to go over so hot, either. Two X-acto blades superglued together can give you an awesome tool for cutting as much rib tape as your heart desires. This technique SAVED MY BUTT on the Friedrichshafen project. Someone on the list turned me on to this. Can't remember who it was now, but whoever you were, I am eternally in your debt. Anyway, there are all kinds of OT applications for this painted decal strip stuff, including (but not limited to): those plates at the ends of some rigging points or struts (as someone has already pointed out), raised wood reinforcing strips on the insides of German wood fuselages (nice crisp lines for those Eduard jobs), red datum lines (best to kit-bash pre-printed red from some old ot kit), etc., etc. And, yes, clear paper is the way to go. (Did I ever send you that $1 > Matt?) I saw Matt get a really nice Nieuport resin for a fraction of its original retail. I thought of bidding just to get the price up, but; 1) I'm just not that mean, and 2) I'm counting too much on his help with certain projects. :) I always lose the list of members aliases, so I sorta try and go by memory. If I have bid against you in the past, I have done so unwittingly. My apologies are sincerely tendered. I have gotten some good deals on ot a/c that the seller included resin and p/e detail sets with. I unfortunately spent too much money on OT a/c until I became better educated on this list. I have had more fun selling stuff (no, it wasn't OT kits) these past few months. It's amazing what some people will pay for some stuff, redaxe being a good example. I found the "Marching Songs of the Imperial German Air Service" on eBay. The bids were already up to $19.00. I went to the sellers website, posted on the auction site, and there were the WWI CD's for $9.99 a piece. I bought them direct, LOL! I seem to recall somewhere that the > rudder bar and joystick were metal, and painted black, but I'm not sure. > Thanks > Hey Tony, Awhile back when I was researching mine, I posed the very same question. It seems quite likely that Goering's A/C was not an assembly-line plane, but was custom-finished at the factory. If so, the interior color would have likely been CDL with some probable white bleed-thru. The lozenge interior would suggest that his plane was a standard A/C with the canopy cutout and handrail being retrofitted in the field. Remember the flare rack and flare chute on the starboard side. If you look at my page in the Photo Gallery, I believe that there's pics showing where it is. What scale are you doing? I used the 1/48 DML kit. I'm also doing Rudi Stark's D.VII 'Li'. I am having a time scratchbuilding the new cowling panels. Oh, by the way, don't forget that Goering's plane had a conical knock-off hub on the prop instead of the standard prop boss. It was black or red, depending on who you ask. I went with black. Later! I seem to recall somewhere that the > rudder bar and joystick were metal, and painted black, but I'm not sure. I use either RLM 02 or black (graphite) for the metalwork. Stark's D.VII is an Albatros machine, so RLM 02 is a good choice. Goerings was a Fokker-built machine (IIRC) and so black or medium gray would probably be fine. Remember that the frame members were covered with the fabric to attach the skin to the frame. The seat was stamped metal and was covered either in black felt, or in some cases 5-lozenge printed fabric. Most had a cusion on the seat, usually of brown or black leather. The cockpit coaming that must be added to Goering's plane is also brown. I noticed that often it are the same companies who want to sell us their shit. These could be blocked off the list. One could block all the servers from China and like we don't have any Chinese members on the list (as far as I know) this would make sense to me, but at the same time it would keep the nice Chinese guys off the list who maybe want to become a member one day in the future. 3) NEVER follow links in such crap mails even if the link might appear to be of interest for you. It is sad to say, but I never trust Asian websites except but for the sites of serious Asian companies that produce the hardware that I use. 4) Install an anti-virus software that also scans all the files coming in from the WWW. NAV as well as MacAfee are able to control and handle that and warn you in case a malicious scipt is used. The list server won't allow attachments to go through without encoding them in ascii - that is, printable characters rather than as executable code. That's enough to kill any attached virus.
