I wont bid against a name I know from the list, if someone posts to the list that they are bidding on something I also wont bid. Over the past two years I have bought about 8 models and 1 book (Taube Dove of war hehehe luckily EtHeretic had his) on Ebay and paid less than retail for all of them. I also have mentioned a few times about ebay Items I am bidding on. Most times this has worked and I havent been bid against by a list member. There was a time a year or so ago that I was bidding on a Bristol Fighter and said so on the list only to be outbid by a list lurker at the last second. I did make him pay more than the model was worth imho so I didn't feel that bad. I've since seen a Veeday Bristol Fighter and am very glad I lost out. As to not mentioning items on the list. I completely disagree with this. As Steven Perry said, many of us don't have lots of time to scan ebay. Between work, family, building and reading email here and all the other chores there is no darned time for hours of chasing after a single model or book. So these postings are helpful imho. Therefore my vote goes for continuing. Of course as someone else said just mentioning an item on the list you wanted often gets a response for less. Over the past few months I have got a Resin Caproni Pensuti Triplane and a Spad XI for less than they sold retail. Mostly because I bid once set my pain threshold and walk away from all bidding until after the auction is over. Just my ten cents...
