Then you started talking about DML's DVII, of which I have a couple, parts removed from sprue, ready to build. Now I've gone and dug a PD Decals sheet out of the collection with 1/48 decals for that machine and made a start, but its not really my fault! Seriously, the Hyperscale article mentioned that some changes were made to the cockpit to accomodate an injury suffered by Goering, could anyone describe and/or show me a photo. I only have one relatively poor quality photo of this machine, but believe there are more about. Also, would I be right in assuming that the fuselage interior is "reverse" lozenge, and that the original lozenge printed fabric was overpainted white ? BTW, I've posted some photos of two DML Fokker Triplanes I built a couple of years ago at the website I maintain on behalf of my club, http://www.kithobbyist.com/IPMSAustralia/ if you're interested. Message-ID: <001701c1908f$aa5b0760$a9ac72d4@FRITZweb> Kristjan, I did it again. I re-did my research on E.I and found the following: Fok. E.I, marked with E1/15 in high position, middle of fuselage. No cross. Eisernes Kreuz und Balkenkreuz, page 63. On the small photo the gun can not be identified. According to Profile drawing (!) page 11, first armed with Parabellum, then with 08/15. Same machine in Sq.S. center spread, but marked E I/16. The I in roman is definitely wrong. Arabic 1 should be o.k. Fok E.I , no cross, no Mil.nr. ,Fokker' painted on the position where the Mil.nr has to be. Armed with a Parabellum. Fokker himself crawls on the wing and gives last instructions. Said to be registered as 3/15. Fokker Fighters of WWI (Imrie), page 9. May be the same machine as depicted in SqS, page 21, said to be WorksNo. 206. ( But take a look also on page 19 of SqS. There is a Fok. E.II. serial 43/15, Pilot Boehme. So says the author. Could you make out the 4 ? The digit before the 3 is much smaller....) Fok E.I, E 5/15, no cross, Parabellum, Sq.S. page 16 Fok E.I, no cross, no Mil.nr. Said to be E 6/15. Parabellum. Marked with the name ,Habicht' and a drawing of a Bird of Prey. Fokker Fighters (Imrie), page 11, pic 15. Fok. E.I, E 8/15, with cross, 08/15 gun. Sq.S. page 14 Fok E.I 14/15 Pilot Böhme, FAA9b, 08/15 gun. The pic is well known and could be found in DF, page 27 and Profile. It's usually said that a Schwarzlose gun is fixed, but that's nonsense. The cooling jacket is not visible due to light conditions, but I have a print were you can see it clearly. No crosses, Mil.nr. not visible. Böhme himself called the crashed machine 'Fokker 14'. Fok E.I, 25/15, no crosses, 08/15 gub. SqS, page 18, upper right. Said to be a E II, but it's a E.I, I think. Fok. E.I, E46/15. 08/15 gun, with crosses. SqS. E.I or E.II, no crosses, no Mil.nr., 08/15 gun. Pilot is Feldwebel Stoeber, FAA9b. Pic from private collection ( R.Kastner) Fok. E.I, no Mil.nr. Pilot Frhr. Von Althaus, Profile page 6 and SqS, page 18 (here said to be a E.II). O8/15 gun in cover. Fuselage cross is more ,fat ' and the arms reaches to the white field's border. Obviously field applied, as this is not the ,Fokker style'. May be the same machine as depicted in SqS, page 16, lower right, but now without headrest. Cross style and pilot are the same. Fok. E.I, no cross, no Mil.nr. Pilot Hesse. SqS. Page 15 Fok. E II, 69/15, no crosses. Profile page 8. Fokker Fighters (Imrie), page 12, pic 16. SqS page 19, upper left. Same machine viewed from other position in SqS, page 17, lower left. Fok. E.III (???), no Mil.nr, no cross. 08/15. Said to be 36/15, but's that's no E.III. I guess it's a E.I. Fuselage crosses were ordered somewhere late in 1915 and on some machines they were applied in the unit's paint shops. Those fuselage crosses are usually of a different style than those ex-works crosses. On the first order Eiserne Kreuze only had to be applied on wings and the empennage. These orders could be interpreted and that's why some early machines even had crosses on the top sides of the lower wings or why Pfalz applied crosses on the elevator ( but *not* on the fuselage sides). I could not dig up the exact date of the order, but I think it was summer or early autumn 1915. Kristjan, if you are interested in scans of the pics noted above, contact me off-line.
