Nope Rory, no such luck here. It's the Hobbytown or nothin" around here, and going to Nashville will not make it any better either. Because of that, I do 99% of my Ot and ot buying through mail order. It is three hours to Louisville, KY, so that's pretty much out too. Of course, I do get to live in a county that only just now got its first traffic light, everybody at the post office knows me by name, they even know to leave my kits in my pick up truck when they won't fit in the mail box. I didn't even know they tried to compensate for scale when formulating paint. I'm guessing here, but I imagine it would involve desaturating the color to simulate more "air" between the eye and the subject. (?) Could somebody please explain I discovered a similar "virtual" effect a while back. My rendering program provides an air quality (turbity) variable. the settings are labeled (in this order)- Perfectly clean dry mountain rural urban industrial I'm not entirely sure how it works, but a setting of "rural" combined with a fairly substantial distance from view point to subject, yields a pretty realistic looking image. Warning - ot content go see The Lord of the Rings!! I'm a hardcore Tolkien fan - and it worked for me. and I have some friends who don't even like fantasy and they enjoyed the movie as well. I do miss the old forest and Tom Bombadil, and the way they just blunder into Merry and Pippin is a little odd. But it doesn't realy matter. This is the best movie I've seen in a LONG time. Bucky: Alberto Casirati and some others on this forum were "consultants" on this project, I believe, so (t)he(y) can expound further. In my opinion, dith World War One, problems of "which colour" are difficult enough to pin down due to the small number of colour photos etc., so it's always a guess to wonder what 80 year old fabric looked like when it was relatively new. The idea that one can refine this already blurred problem by issuing paints that account for scale effect, is pushing the limits of credulity. Finally, in terms of quality, Misterkit paints are excellent. I mainly spray them through an airbrush and they have a fairly good "creamy" quality rather than the granular substance of some other brands. They are also fairly durable - not as much as enamels of course - but for acrylics. One thing about Australia that fascinates me is the range of climatic contrasts we have - Shane has 40 degrees, Ross has heat and bushfires, and we have pouring rain, gale force winds, and hailstones for the past two days. Tasmania, South Australia, West Australia, have something different again. I was also in the bushfires Shane mentioned - spent almost two days on the one truck as part of the Country Fire Authority Volunteer fire fighters, being sent to different parts of the Otways National Parks on the Victorian West Coast. However wherever we went the fire didn't. Had two days of jittery waiting though, other guys I knew weren't quite so lucky and were in the thick of the fire fighting. Overall the fires lasted about four days (if I recall correctly) over different parts of the state, it caused untold amounts of damage and a number of fire-fighters and civilians lost their lives and suffered serious injury. I hope the NSW fires can be brought under control soon as bush fires are truly a terrible thing, they spread so quickly. I hope Ross, Shane and Lorna, and the other NSW listees are safe and well out of it.
