Actually, the award isn't the Oscar, but the iBest, the biggest award of Brazilian internet. My web site, A Grande Guerra nos Céus, entered the contest under 3 categories, "Entertainment", "Personal pages - Entertainment" and "Personal pages - Various subjects" (till now, there's no "Plastic Models" category, just like there's no WWI category in most of our model contests) Those of you who understand a bit of Portuguese (or don't mind trying) can vote (if you want, of course) through my home page. Go to www.modelismo-ww1.cjb.net and find the three yellow balls with the iBest logo. The only problem: you must register and start receiving all junk mail these guys send when the award day comes closer... There is a laquer based product called 'dope' that you apply to the tissue to bond it to the frame and stiffen it. You should be able to buy this at the hobby store where you bought your kit. Dope has a lot of carrier, and not much pigment or 'paint' in it so it goes on really light. I sure do. I used ot be a one at a time guy but this year started running multiple projects at once. I find it is good to have at least two kits on the go because when you get bored with one you often get inspired by the other and vice versa. And it helps when you have to leave one of the kits alone to let paint/varnish harden to get on with something else. Currently I have an Eduard Nie 17 (in the final stages) and a (ot alert) 1/25 card model of a Hawker Hind. I'm also (finally) painting the figures to go with my Albatros that I did for the cook up. Very sharp. Avoid at all costs. Advice - if one comes to your house looking like D, show him your worse model ever. That should take care of it. ;-) Matt Bittner ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 01 Oct 2001 17:58:29 -0500 From: "Matt Bittner" To: "wwi@wwi-models.org" Subject: Re: October IM Re: Eastern Express MoS Type I Message-ID: <200110012256.PAA20790@gull.mail.pas.earthlink.net> On Mon, 1 Oct 2001 15:13:29 -0400 (EDT), James Fahey wrote: > If I wanted to turn the MoS Type I to a Type N is it just a matter of > changing: > * to a longer spinner > * adding fuselage stitching > * removing the fuselage bracket that goes over the gun? It's actually easier than fixing the Revell Type N, but still some work. The stitching actually only existed (as far as I can tell, and I've looked at a lot of photos) on two machines. Change the spinner; the upper, forward fuselage; the engine; the gun; remove the scallops from the wings (and I think the horizontal tail); the wings were a different span (Type N smaller, I think) but not really noticeable in 1/72nd. I think that's it. Is this the civilian version that was discussed on the list that Marquete(?) had released? It says MkIV WWI bomber. Thanks also for the tips on the decals and the kind words on the Morane. cam ______________________________________________________________ Get Your Free E-mail at http://www.prontomail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 01 Oct 2001 21:40:30 -0500 From: "Matt Bittner" To: "wwi@wwi-models.org" Subject: New update Message-ID: <200110020238.TAA08902@harrier.mail.pas.earthlink.net> Just uploaded images of Sandy Adam's wonderful SPAD SA.2.
