Yup. That's the only reason I watched. Ditto 95% of Qld'ers. Take Lions out of the final and the only ones who'd be bothered are the transplanted Mexican we have up here to clean the pool ;-) > the Bears/Lions/whatever, > will have to play a more competent Victorian side.....such as > Collingwood! Be still my beating heart. The only team other than the Lions I'd watch in a final is "anyone who has the chance to beat Collingwood with a wobbly last minute behind in a replay to win by 1 point" ;-) (I lived in Melbourne for 12 years. Wobbly fans were more insufferable than most, and they tried to poison me once with 4 bottles of red at the Collingwood Footy Club. B***ards !!) > On a happier OT note, my long running (for me anyway) > Albatros DV is just > about complete apart from top/bottom wing decals and a couple of minor > paint touch ups - I'll be firing up some piccies of this and > my other more presentable models for posting to the website soon : ) On a sadder OT note (for me) I report that my part built Toko Pfalz D.XII, stored until I finish this ere ship thingy, was seriously shot up by flak last weekend. Seems that the 3rd Childflak unit was throwing a tennis ball around inside against the usually strictly enforced rules of engagement. Model went rather backwards from the preceding condition - complete except for wheels and control horns/cables. :-( Child is banned from modelling for a couple of weeks. That'll teach im! Message-ID: <5.1.0.14.0.20011001083245.00a60ad0@pop.xs4all.nl> Hi list, Further to my questions ofa month ago about the Fee 'Zanzibar'that was captured and turned up in the Winsock datafile, I'm just about to join the booms to the wings and have noticed an oddity. This aircraft and several others in the datafile show very pronounced, regularly spaced dark/light bands along all booms from where they join the wings up till half way to the first strut position. This is much more pronounced than the banding to be seen in some photographs of other aircraft and on the back cover profiles by Ray Rimell. The booms are wooden I know, and as far as I can see from without the original photos the darker colour matches that of the wood. Has anyone any idea what colour the light stripes are? Could they be reinforcing fabric strips? Thanks for any help. Oh, and Michael Kendix, building 2 or more models at once I find a great way of simplifying stuff like similar paint jobs (especially if an airbrush is needed) and strut manufacture. Sometimes I get in a weird (probably illegal) mood where it seems normal to concentrate on several engines at once, or a line of m/gs. Or then there's (GAAAAAGH!) my pet hate, painting wheels. Or making struts. But I suspect the real reason may be that I'm still too much a wee lad to resist doing as many models as I think I can cope with at one time. Silliest number of multiple builds I ever had going, including ot 50s British jets, was 11, the reason being they all had many stages where I would have otherwise had to wait for things to cure before continuing. All the best, Paul. nb Aeroclub Fe2b, Blue Max Pfalz DXII, 3 ot a/c (2 EE lightnings and a vampire NF10), and the never-ending DH1a. nu, Eric's Gotha GIII.
