Hello
I am IPMS member and is currently trying to build a 1/32 scale De Havilland DH-4. I am using a W.A. Wylam drawing for most of my information, but I am having difficulty trying to figure out what the camera looks like. The drawing shows it mounted just behind the rear gunner position. Is there any way you can help me with this delima.

Unfortunately, I cannot remember the title or author. Do any of you remember this book and/or its author? Several of my WWI reenacting buddies recommended ti to me, but the title/author is lost to me now. On another note, I have noticed that the kit manufacturers, when they do produce non-fighter/scout a/c, tend heavily towards the Central Powers, and the Allies seem to get short-shrift. Why doesn't Eduard produce a DH4 in 1/48th? Why doesn't Roden or MAC produce a Salmson? Is all of this just my imagination. Wishing he hadn't missed getting one of Pegaus' Salmson's. Hi Pedro,

Thank you for the very kind words.  I really enjoy working on the Salmson and sharing the photos with everybody.  I take it to the museum once a month and show it to the curator and other friends there.  I can't wait until it's finished and I can finally present it to them.  I have gained a great deal of respect for the design of this plane and the chaps who flew in it.  I have an acquaintance, Roger Freeman, owner of "Vintage Aircraft Services" in Texas, who wants to build a full size Salmson replica some day, and there is a chance that I might get to be involved.  Unfortunately he lives about a thousand miles away.  I have started a new web page for the Air Fair he held in May: http://communities.msn.com/TheGreatLandoni

Thanks again,

Jim

One of the most produced WW1 types was the SPAD 11/16 - a two seater. We have a resin and a vac, but nothing injected. Yet companies would rather produce machines of a shorter run, like the Fokker D.VI. Someone in the "business" once told me that German outsells all others by at least two for one. What they don't realise is they tend to outsell all the others because *no one makes any of the others*! Think on this, for awhile. The Fokker D.VII is now being redone by Roden. However, we have an inaccurate SPAD 13 (in 1/72nd at least) and a SPAD 7 that's buildable, but not without a lot of work. Less work than trying to build the Revell Fokker D.VII. And you would think that since the AEF and other many airforces flew the Breguet 14 we would have an injected kit of that. I feel your plight. Believe me. Where is the Paul Schmitt's? How about the Nieuport 14 (let alone the 17)? > Wishing he hadn't missed getting one of Pegaus' Salmson's. Take Dennis up on his offer, but be aware that Azur/MPM has announced one for sometime this year (probably close to the end of the year). That should be sweet. They have also announced a Breguet 19, and at least one magazine has said a Breguet 14 (which I really hope for) as well. Maybe with Amodel taking up the reigns of WW1 machines flown by the IRAS we'll see some from that company. Yes, there's one for you, and a double seater. Amodel now does the SPAD 'pulpits' in injected form. I'm looking over the kit in further detail now, and it's very nicely done. One of these days the companies will "wise up" and give us more than just the single seat fighters... Now Matt, can a fellow honestly have too many 1/72nd Salmsons, no matter who the manufacturer is? I think not.
