Wich reminds me of an anecdote, so it's ot and those not interested can click on "delete" right now. The aero club I used to visit and where I received flight instruction had a nice grass strip, wich was mowed once a week by the club employee in a bright red lawn mower (I guess it was a MAssey Ferguson). He took care to do this chore whenever few pilots were present. However, his work attracted planes and pilots from some other neighbouring aerodromes and they practiced low level flights over the guy on the bloody red lawn mower. At least one unknown pilot is credited with downing the lawn mower, since its approach caused that the employee would drive his unfortunate mount inside a ditch! After spending a few pleasant hours with sp on Saturday in a neat bookstore and one of the coolest plastic emporiums that I have ever been in (I MUST GO BACK!!! - possibly for the Regionals in October), I took off to get back to Tampa across the I-275 bridge. The bike started making a funny noise. The back tire was going flat. I was able to actually get it fixed on a Sunday and took off through some hellacious storms. Water INSIDE the goggles, and when I didn't keep my mouth closed, I was spitting water. Actually, I caught a hailstorm going down to Tampa, so I was beset with weather in both directions. Then my fuel tank started leaking - onto the engine. I had dreadful visions of OT pilots making the dreadful decision whether to jump or not to jump (and I would have been going at nearly an OT speed too, even though my altitude was low). Becoming the Human Torch, Ghost Rider, or mimicking one of Mannock's victims was not a pleasant idea (sizzle, sizzle, WONK!). I didn't explode (yet), and came back with some OT plastic including an Eduard Black Flight Tripe and a Sopwith Baby (I want more of these). When I got hamoe yesterday, I found a nice big package on my doorstep - in it were the three Koster kits I had recently ordered - the Sopwith Tripe, a Fokker D.VIII and the Hannover! Great! The Gotha sits awaiting further attention - new pics are up of it. The Pup is nearing completion, and is fully rigged and awaiting some more tinkering with the decals. Nats news - I am now back to 'Questionable' status as I was going to share a room with a friend of mine and he might crap out. If he does, I'll just wait until next year. I'd love to see everyone and all that, but 150 per night to socialize is pretty steep, and anyone who knows me knows that I run out of interesting things to say after 5 minutes. Try 4 days of me... You might have hit us!' Back OT, just for the heck of it, if I finish my three Albatrii and get photos, can I still have them posted on the Cookup site? (I'm just finishing the fuselage wood grain on the D.III's - one coat of Future on) .Mark. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2001 16:06:58 +0100 From: David Fleming To: wwi@wwi-models.org Subject: Re: Emhar MkIV Message-ID: <3B30BC11.2345D40@dial.pipex.com> Matt Bittner wrote: > --- Andreikor@aol.com wrote: > > > There ya go then... can't really fault the modeler! Water INSIDE This brings back memories of my motorcycling days. I picked up one of those full body rain suits and the water would pool in the most inappropriate spot. (and I would have been a Sopwith Baby (I want more of these). Isn't this a great little kit :-) I got one awhile back and I can hardly wait to build it. It is a kit that requires some extra work (at my pace I'm sure it'll take me a year) but the subject is Way Cool. The Baby is now my second favourite Sopwith (Still like the Tripe the most). The thing is with this kit is the number of possible variations. There is a Sopwith Baby, Blackburn Baby, Ansoldo Baby, one as a land plane or you could convert it to a Schneider.
