I don't usually use a primer per se, instead spraying the lightest color of the model's camo scheme overall as the first coat of paint. One has the same piece of garbage molded on the upper as yours, Steve. It has a little orange peel on the fuselage sides but little or none anywhere else. The second kit appears to be an earlier - much cleaner casting. Its the one I will do the other is a spare for future eventualities. Very nice, very pretty. This is going to be fun - when ever I get to it. I finally finished the ot biplane that had been making my life very challenging last Sunday and am now moving on my long delayed Roland C. IIa. Just finished the hardest part -hollowing out and restoring the light lattice structure of the fuselage frames. It should be down hill from there. Then my cook-up Sopwiths, what ever I decide to do. The German Air force even trains there. They would know all about any Memorial that might be around there. The Germans, more recently, leased part of Holloman AFB at Almagordo. (Thanks, Todd!) I've never even seen a resin kit before, so I can't comment on it very much. There is some flash, but that may be normal for resin. There are no instructions, just some old photos and a line drawing. There are a couple of parts I'll have to figure out, as it's not intuitively obvious to me what they are. The undercarriage is the two-wheel variety. Does anyone know if this was the configuration of Lt. / Capt. Strange's plane, or did his have the four wheel arrangement? An interesting item in the box was a scrap of Czech newspaper that contained one panel of a "Peanuts" cartoon, translated into Czech. Too bad it wasn't one featuring Snoopy in WWI garb.
