Well, in fact the vacations -as other matters in life- weren't exactly as I expected. I haven't visited a pool in the whole two weeks! :-) While I was in the Patagonia, right by the shoreline, the wind is very strong and sanding vac pieces on a sanding surface would have been very akward. Beach sand flew everywhere and no exacting job ccan be done while outdoors. Fortunately enough, I did some modelling chores on injected plastic fuselages that I also carried, sanding interiors. But by far the most productive modelling activity was to plan and to think some methods to do things in the future, solving by pure introspection some troubles. Now I have to practice them! :-) later a detailed report and a few musings D. ----- Original Message ----- From: Crawford Neil To: Multiple recipients of list Sent: Monday, January 29, 2001 7:00 AM Subject: RE: I'm back > Welcome back, how did all your vac-forms do, did they mix > well with the swimming pool? Actually it's still related to the museum job. . .I had a Jenny kit on order to depict a plane conducting an aerial survey in labrador c1919 but it didn't arrive in time. Since it won't be finished for the exhibition anyway, I'm rather enjoying tinkering with the old Lindberg jenny kit. Been playing with the interior so far: coat of radome tan, added wood and wire interior framing, painted my best plywood effect to date on the floor and added a firewall-to-be-gas tank forrard of the observer's seat. Idly considering adding throttle mechanism and some other bits and pieces to the interior before the final cross braces and closing the fuse. The engine is remarkably nice given the age of the kit but looks like it will present some fit problems. Had a look at the site but didn't find any good clear images of the engine area. . . any suggestions, just in case I really give in to my incipient masochism and add some frills to the engine?? Didn't some Jennys do away with the cowling altogether and simple have an exposed engine?? We're getting nailed with our third blizzard in as many days so I am anticipating an evening in front of the TV with my kit. Will likely close the fuse and fill, and perhaps turn my attention to the wings. Planning to rig with surgical suture and perhaps hypodermic needle sections for turnbuckles. . .still undecided. Best thing about this particular A/C is nothing much in the way of markings, just an overall CDL with either a dark olive or perhaps a very dull metallic grey on the engine cowling and back along the deck as far as the cockpits.. Having a wonderful time wish you were here . . . .because if you were you could help me shovel out my driveway. . .again. 30 cms of snow on Saturday another 15 last night and a further 25 today. This on top of all we've had this month and I have a driveway cut through two 12 foot plus walls of snow. That and the snow plow driver seems to have taken out a personal vendetta against me. I had just finished 2 hours of shoveling to clear my driveway and was standing in my driveway resting (panting) over my shovel when the Ba***rd came by, gave me a cheery nod and proceeded to very carefully push an eight foot wall of snow across my drive. Who says homicide or at lest GBH ain't justified. Diego, the Shanes and other listees from warmer climes, any of you looking for a longterm houseguest?? OT modeler, good cook and lover of red wine. . .and I'm housebroken. . . .please, please? MVJ ------------------------------ End of WWI Digest 3023 **********************
