In the UK these are readily available at model railway (railroad for the NA spelling challenged community) suppliers. ;-) Alternatively, I can't find my catalogue, but I can't imagine Model Expo, for example, NOT selling them. Over here they're called burnishing brushes and look and operate like a propelling pencil. You can also get fatter bundles of fibres in 1/4" and 1/2" sizes though they're not as aggressive due to their greater area. Hope this helps. They are not hard plastic, but they are not the soft plastic of the old Airfix figures either. I drilled out the barrel of the 18 pdr with no problem. They are also better than the Revell 1/72 figures. One of my main complaints is the relative lack of different poses. There are four sprues in each box, two being identical. All in all, they will liven up a WWI scene and you can add some people to your Mark IV's and the upcoming A7V. I'm just starting with the paint so I can't say how well it stick, but I don't anticipate any problems. I always use anti-dust masks when sanding resin parts. The tiny dust particles of the resin will easily penetrate your lungs and stay there forever. I am no chemist nor do I know the excact formula of resin but its smell alone should tell you already to be very cautious when using the material. It's solving agents seem to be anything else than good for your lungs and dust never is good for your lungs, no matter if it contains solving agents or not. Modeling is a fantastic hobby but whatever you do, ALWAYS think of rule #1 for plastic pilots: SAFETY FIRST! You got only one pair of eyes so protect them with goggles when using machines such as dremel tools. Use masks when sanding a lot or when airbrushing your models. And check if it's not better to use water solving paint as often as possible. Use ear plugs to protect you from the ugly soap operas your wife may be watching on TV in the background or - even better - use a good set of headphones and fill it with music made by Metallica (remove the ear plugs before putting on the headphones indeed). Evening sun, Large hatch back window without tint, confined area = heat build up and resin models with warped surfaces. The Salmson is nothing compared to an Albatros D.V. The wings make a wash board look like a sheet of glass and the fuselage makes a sway back nag look like Secretariat. Resin wings aren't really that bad if you don't put them under direct high heat lights, in direct sunlight of in a place where the temp gets above 95 degrees. In a normal display case, they should do fine. The exception would be very long flat pieces, like wings with out any kind of support. Then the tips will begin to sag and the tips will start to reach for the ground. If they get hot or are exposed to high heat/direct sunlight they will tighten up and the tips will start to curl upward. Message-ID: <200101281538.QAA93597@mail-relay.eunet.no> Hei, Suggest visiting Comet Miniatures, 46-48 Lavender Hill, London SW11 SRH It is a decent walk from Clapham Junction or Clapham Common on the tube. They have a good selection of old and new stuff, sometimes you have to walk into the store with UFOs and monsters next door and ask for access to the one next door that holds new and secondhand kits. Have made some good finds there at reasonable prices, you might need some time to find what you are looking for and not be afraid of a bit of dust. Eders Knut Erik PS I am Norwegian, I just pay tax to Britain when working on the UKCS -hoping some of it will go to fund the RAF Museum.
