Hear hear. I too was unlucky never to have met Bill. But when I, and indeed others since, joined the list he was among the first to welcome us "From the Texas Panhandle." His posts were informatative and informed and I recevied several off list mails from him offering help, information and encouragement. the idea to create some kind of lasting memorial is a good one and I agree with Allan that it should be something tasteful and something that ties in with Bill's own interests and character. In my brief contact with him he struck me as a true gentleman His passing lessens us all. I'm getting a little burnt out on the virtual world, and need to work on something I can hold in my hands. I still haven't even started the 1/48 Eduard Dv I signed up for - once my laptop establishes itself on my workbench it just takes over. I'll probably be rejuvinated by a couple of weeks of "real" modeling. I have made some decent progress on my Virtual model - Landing gear, tail skid, wing root and control colum are done, I'll post some images when I complete the cockpit. I'm afraid I won't be entirly finished by the deadline, but I figured that from the start. Mark _______________________________________________________________________ Free Unlimited Internet Access! Well, I don't meant that, perhaps being a non-english speaker doesn't helps me trying to explain myself. I suggested "Best model" as to be elected not by judging but for popular vote and consensus, as the Albatros Cookup was and the next will be. On the other side, as Shane pointed, the CookUp could be dedicated to his memory, but I like the idea of creating a tradition that could be maintained and renewed each year. You should email and tell Testors that you have stopped using their paints. I don't think they sell enough at Walmart to replace serious modelers consumption. A youngster wrote to the President and said 'hey, what gives? I thought there was a pricing freeze and my Tetsors bottles went from 15 cents to 19 cents (maybe it was 19 to 25). In any case, whomever was charged with these matters checked it out , found the young man was right, and slapped Testors with a fine. So squeezing their clientel is no new ide there.... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Aug 2000 12:17:44 -0500 From: "Matt Bittner" To: "wwi@pease1.sr.unh.edu" Subject: Re: Seeing red over Testors, was Re: More dumb newbee questions Message-ID: <200008111717.KAA02951@scaup.prod.itd.earthlink.net> On Fri, 11 Aug 2000 13:13:19 -0400 (EDT), Albatrosdv@aol.com wrote: > Or to put it another way. As for me I started a Gullows Fokker Dr.1 and E.3 and Well keep in mind I build for wargaming, so my standards are quite a bit under those of the average list member. For instance, the Albatros D-I on the images page is one of my "masterpieces" and many fall very short of that. OOB is a mantra and a lifestyle for me :-) Well OK I use Roseparts and Aeroclub bits and pieces here and there...... -Al =============================================================================== Allan Wright Jr. | "I Played the Fool" - Southside Johnny University of New Hampshire +-------------------------------------------------- Research Computing Center | WWI Modeling mailing list: wwi@pease1.sr.unh.edu Internet: aew@unh.edu | WWI Modeling WWW Page: http://pease1.sr.unh.edu =============================================================================== ------------------------------ End of WWI Digest 2537 **********************
