I have to agree on the engine. Interesting concept, but it sure as Hell looks wrong to me too. The interior didn't look right to me either. I'll look at the one like you suggested. I guess that I'll follow all suggestions by scratching the cockpit (you can't see that much of it though, can you?), replacing the engine (I just so happen to have a couple of CSM engines lying about), replace the guns, and look forward to strut fit problems. Okay, I've been trying to figure this one out, along with a few others.
What took second at the Nats in 1/72nd bipes?  It was *not* Hustad's
W.4, although most people I talk to think it was.  Any clues out there?

So does anyone know of a source for that powerplant so that I may begin my Farman project by scratchbuilding the engine? That way, the whole damned plane - except for the Aeroclub Hotchkiss gun and some other PE and detail parts - can be scratchbuilt. Basically, the plane looks to me to be a weird French marriage between a D.H.2 and a Brisfit. Jesus, it has some rigging on it! The inner 6 struts look like they have spiders in 'em! Well, actually, the blueprints have some excellent drawings, and they should be sufficient, however, I like to have all of the info that I can get. Anyway, any additional information is welcome - my greatest tsk at the moment is figuring out what scale these drawings are and then copying them down to 1/48 scale. Then I'll give this beast a shot! Roseplane has a vacuform in 1/72nd scale that I've built, and I would guess that the reason he did the "bis" is that the F-40bis (or at least some of them)had a covered engine. A picture of this aeroplane is in the French WWI aeroplane FMP tome. This book also has a scale drawing (in 1/72nd scale, I think), so you could use that drawing to figure out the scale of the Romanian book's drawings.
