Welllllll.... the Aeroclub DVI I have matchs quite near the Dr1 fuselage on the old "Fokker Fighters" book (sort of a 1978 version of a datafile special) from Grosz and Stair. Quite a lot of white metal parts, some of them have been bent in the mail, the Lewis mg looks like it is ready to be displayed at a disarmament conference. Why the engine is cast in metal while the exhausts and instrument panel are in plastic beats me. Plastic mouldings have the usual large gates and mostly very well executed, but I think there is a bit of ripple just behind the leading edge on both wings. One of the sets of wings is a bit rougher than the other at the edge, should be possible to handle but then it will be neccessary to reinstate some of the rib details. Quite a lot of details going into the cockpit which has an open section above it. Lengths of Contrail plastic struts, one of them bent to fit in the bag so half of it can not be used for its intended purpose, would have been better to cut it in two. Decals for C37785 of the RNAS and E4514 of No.19 Sqn., Ltn. C Montgomery-Moore. So, as I said at the start, typical Blue Max/Pegasus, need some work, but a good starting point for a great model. Dennis should be able to finish it in a day to two. Message-ID: <39754F13.E7056DE5@earthlink.net> Unlike some, who may hold kit manufacturers to a very high standard, I don't believe I ever saw a kit I didn't like (Merlins excepted. I have a few Merlins - - I really don't know why - - I guess it just seemed like a good idea at the time.) Other than using duplicates as replacements for irreparable screw-ups, doing several different versions of the same aircraft has always appealed to me. Haven't done it yet, still the thought appeals to me. So far I have about 150+ OT kits with more on the way. I would consider the question as to how many I have built to be an insensitive intrusion into my sense of well-being. I will join other list members who have confessed (bragged?) about their senseless, profligate spending in accumulating duplicates with the following: 3 DH 2's in 1/48: SMER, Blue Max and Renwal 7 DH 4's: 4 in 1/48; 1 Aurora and 3 AMT, also 3 Airfix in 1/72 2 DH 5's: 1 Lone Star in 1/48 and 1 Czech Master Resin in 1/72 3 DH 9's: a Blue Rider conversion of an Airfix DH 4, a Merlin and a CMK, all 1/72 6 Albatros D. III in 1/48: 1 SMER, 4 Eduard incl. an OAW & a Blue Max OEF 3 Albatros D. V in 1/48: 1 Eduard D. V and 2 Eduard D. Va's 2 Ansaldo SVA's in 1/48: 1 SMER and 1 Spin on the way from VAMP 2 Aviatik-Berg D. I's in 1/48: Flashback series 115 and 138 3 Avro 504K's: SMER in 1/48 (inspired by Candace Uhlir's review) 2 Bristol F2B's: 1 Blue Max in 1/48 and 1 Renwal (Aeroskin) in 1/72 6 Curtiss JN-4's in 1/48: Lindberg. (had a masochistic thought of using 3 to make a sea-going N9H, then got Lone Star's N9H kit) Still may try it, though. 6 Fokker DR. I's: 1 each Revell and Hobbycraft in 1/28, 4 DML in 1/48 7 Fokker D.
