I appreciate that the Toko kits all seem to have fit problems with struts, and also that the Roden Dr.1 /F.1 is essentially a Toko production. I have yet to hear of a Toko kit that does *not* have strut problems (please prove me wrong) so it's just a natural assumption that Roden will continue with that trend. Afterall it was the people who made the kits for Toko that created Roden. But I agree that it's best to wait until someone builds a Roden kit. So, I will retract my statement until that point. I'm just extremely skeptical... Message-ID: Geez, the silence is deafening! Especially after the busy weekend. OK, here's a thread brought up as an adjunct to sneaking kits into the house and the scarcity of of Revell's SE5a due to hoarders: How many of any one kit is enough? I currently have 100 or so DIFFERENT 1/48 OT plane kits, and rarely buy duplicates because I figure I'll never get back around to a second or third iteration. Of course, I consider the Albatros D.V and D.Va DIFFERENT planes, but only because there are so many great schemes for these. I've got two Kokker D.VIIs, too, for the same reason. And, I end up with duplicates as better kits come along and I replace an older one with a new version; Aurora's Albatros gave way to Tom's Modelworks, which has been supplanted by Eduard. But I know some of you loons have dozens of your favorites stashed, with the idea of producing an entire airfleet of Fokkers or SPADs. Who's got the record? I once had 8 Airfix RE-8's but can't remember what the hell I was planning to do with them. Message-ID: <39737FB1.64E8EEFF@airmail.net> Howdy! I did it! I was able to use the color copier over at my local Kinko's (Lewisville, Texas). I asked to make color copies and they pointed to a row of machines in the corner. I even got a little help from a service tech. I was able to print my ot nose art and unit tail codes. The decals came out great, but I do need to improve my own artwork. I thought the color would get richer as I reduced it. Nope, every stroke in my drawings came out in miniature with perfect color tone. Next time I'll use better markers or paint instead of colored pencils and ink pens. The copier has some interesting features. For example it can take one small image and copy it multiple times onto an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet. I have been unhappy with some of the national insignias I have purchased in the past. Now I can draw one "perfect" one and the copier will fit as many as it can on my decal paper. Cool huh? This opens up tons of markings for me. What about the D.VII with the witch on the broomstick? Just shrink her down on the copier and apply her to the fuselage. Oh yeah! I was able to choose 75% reduction too. I think I could go even lower, but I didn't try. The only downside is I could only run a sheet of paper thru once. So if you want one little piece of nose art you have to use a whole sheet for it. Later! Brent ------------------------------ End of WWI Digest 2471 **********************
