Registration is 9-11, admission is $5 and includes the first three models ($1/model for all above 3). You can then also wander around the museum - OT subjects include the Hanriot H.D.1 that Nungesser flew here in America at the Air Races in Los Angeles in 1925, a Bristol Fighter that is currently unflyable but could change its status (List Goddess and I are going to convince them to put a Chevy in it and let us be the crew). Kind-of OT includes one of two P-26 Peashooters left in the world, a P-12E (currently masquerading as an F4B-4), and an F3F-2. In the Model Museum you can see RKs famous Gotha bomber, and the Rickenbacker diorama, as well as numerous other OT models donated by S. Calif List Members. Unfortunately, the club had to drop the Best of Show Award - 40 minutes airborne in the back seat of a P-51D, due to cost and liability concerns. (That and they got tired of seeing RK and his offspring in the seat of honor - :-)) Cheers, TC ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 09 Jun 2000 01:03:11 -0500 From: Lee Mensinger To: wwi@pease1.sr.unh.edu, ripvanwinkle@earthlink.net, lemen@x25.net Subject: Re: To Unsub Message-ID: <3940889F.4810A72B@x25.net> Not defensive and not sniping. Please remember "Sniping is shooting from ambush". I was an Infantry soldier and I do, readily, understand the meaning of the word. I am not the type. I was up front and positive . I stood before you and God and said my piece. The note went not only to you but the entire list just as this one will. I will take what ever lumps I may deserve. I would have helped, sooner, if I had seen a request and I will again anytime someone has problems and asks for help. When you subscribed you received a note that mentioned you should print out a set of instructions, you could receive, by simply sending the message HELP to an address. I found the instructions that way a long time ago. So the information was offered very early, and, you declined to accept the offer. Anyway I am a very friendly person and I do not snipe or get angry with people. I just pass on information. At my age I don't have time for childish tantrums. Sorry you felt you had to indicate I was something I am not, but, no matter I will offer my hand in friendship anytime you ask for help in the future. If I see the request. Feel free. I won't ever mention this message because I also do not hold grudges. Not worth the trouble. I still do not need an endless display such as you performed today. Be a man stand up and say "Gentlemen I need help". "I didn't pay attention and learn how to unsubscribe as I should have". Enough said, and, I am sure you could have learned a bit from all of the people here. Again, not said in anger. Just sorry to lose a potential friend in a field we both could enjoy. Wish you happiness and joy in any endeavor you may undertake and anytime you wish to return I am sure the others as well as myself will welcome you as a potential friend and we will help you when you ask. I do agree we are supposed to be more dedicated to the resolutions but we stray. I stray as well as anyone. Lee Rip van winkle wrote: > I did ask. I send as you ask and will do so again. So English foot (0.305 cm) is only one of many. Examples from (then) German speaking countries: foot (as used in the AH Empire in 19. century) = 0.316 m old czech foot (then a part of AHE, too) = 0.295 m If I were you I'd go simply with 0.3 m. IIRC, the metric system originated in France in the 18th or 19th century so it was quite a new issue in the years of the Great War. HTH Cheers! Ivan Subrt "The air is our sea." Well, if you want to see some really cool 1/200 OT seaplanes and coastal craft, go to: http://www.rodlangton.com/ww1/ww1txt.htm These are a range from Langton miniatures, and they are amazing kits (they include photo etch parts). I've seen them made up at wargames shows, and was tempted, but they are a bit pricey. I thought it would be worth doing one just so I could accuse Matt B of being a braille scaler!
