I have been a modeller for, primarily. my own enjoyment rather than competition since the fifties. My modelling also extends to recreating battles in miniature. My local club in Denver has completed over 120 WWI kits in the last year alone for use in wargames all in 1/72 scale. Last year I submitted a review to this list for the Omega Models' Neiuport 21 kit. Matt Biitner was encouraged to buy one and now endorses this kit with his own enthusiasum. I was glad to see that my "modeler's eye" can be of benefit to other list members. This list has been an invaluable resource for model information for the WWI period. Please keep it up. In order to find those kits of planes not currently made, I have had to seek other venues to obtain them for the last 4 years. They are few and far between. I have had to use eBay to obtain many of them since 1996. I have purchased more than a few from list members on eBay. I am still looking for those I still can't obtain since I cannot always afford to be eBay's highest bidder to be able to get one to build. I recently got a Short 184 by forgetting to place a decimal point in a bid of $33.50 with 5 minutes left to the closing bell.. Imagine my releif when the other bidder only bid $55.00. Whew!!! * Matt, Thanks for the kits I would be more than happy to renegotiate, let's talk off list. * To Tom Cleaver, (with a pleasent smile on my face) I say: "Thank you, That's the nicest thing I've been called all Day!" * To My Fellow List Members: " Thank You for allowing me to come out of lurk mode", and If by chance You have any 1/72 kits besides Airfix, Revell, or Eschi, that you don't think you will get around to, please drop me a line. I have some 1/48 scale trade bait as well as some old OT and ot 'Aircraft in Profile' booklets for trade. Just to keep the pot boiling on this one. I have seen a Dr 1 in 1/48 that was correct for Voss with the yellow cowling. The thing that I noticed most was that the white face stood out very well. A while back after I mentioned I had seen a Blue Max Junkers DI on ebay sell for I think $100. Gerald McOsker emailed me and sold me his for basically what he paid for it (much less than $100). Likewise Dave Zulis let me buy (very inexpensively) a spare copy he had of one of the Putnam books. Alberto Casirati gave me two Airfix 504k's. All of these members could have sold these for a lot more on Ebay. To my benefit they didn't. I am certainly thankful that they didn't. Whilst I don't intend selling my OT models (although I can be persuaded to swap). I have found a very good place to dispose of my ot models (Except the VVS ones that is), give them to my 12 year old nephew and 8 year old son. Makes me feel a lot better then maybe making a few dollars from some collector who is out to re-sell or hoard. I have been known to buy on ebay, but 99% of the time the models are way out of my league. Can be entertaining to watch the prices and shake you head though..
