Message-ID: <3911FC67.753A@prodigy.net> I've always liked Jasta 18's red and white Albatros D.Vs and Fokker D.VIIs... The PC10 aircraft look striking with white surrounds to the roundels and large white aircraft letters, e.g., 56 Sqdn. Elegant, yet understated. This is ot, but I was in CVW-14 on the Indy when Desert Shield kicked off. Our CAG had earlier decreed that one aircraft from each of the squadrons had to have a glossy black tail with the CVW-14 rainbow emblazoned across it. They looked impressive, but were definitely non-tactical. The black-tailed birds were a lot easier to spot in the air than the overall TPS birds. Anyway, it looked as though we were going into combat on 7 Aug 90. That night, our maintenance troops painted out our garish tail with gray and the CAG went into high PRF when he found out. Better to increase the risk of losing a jet than miss a cool PAO shot, I guess. Long ot story, but based on my limited experience, I'd have to come down on the side of whatever provides the most camouflage. While this relates directly to writers, it has a lot of links to all aspects of the situation, and I highly recommend it to you. This is about UCITA, the Uniform Computer Information Technology Act, one of the most truly dreadful things the folks who have given the world "Tort reform a la Bill Gates" in the State of Washington (information I learned the hard way last year) have come up with. Unfortunately, the Virginia State Legislature (why does this *always* happen in Southern legislatures?) has not only let the face-hugger out of the egg, it's now into the air shafts. Come next summer, when you discover that all disputes between you and whoever makes the piece of worthless software that just melted your hard drive will be resolved "in accordance with the laws of Virginia" (and you folks overseas will have the same recourse) you will understand why. This legislation is also pending in several other states, so we are all at risk here. I put this up here because, a.) we're all computer users and will deal with this as consumers, and b.) there are more than a few of us involved with the business as programmers/content providers/consultants, etc., and we indendents stand to *really* get the old "bend over and spread 'em" under this new legislation. This is worth checking out.
