Then why not photograph my suburb where the only houses with fences at all are ones with dogs - and infer we're NOT scared. 2. Armed robbery is up since the crackdown on guns. Yes, but only by the same rate as the increase in population and armed robbery using *guns* is down 40% 3. Deaths by shooting due to all causes (suicidal, accidental, homicidal) are down by 46% in three years. They forgot to mention that. The farrago of lies and misrepresentations that we were shown last night has made my usually cool blood boil. FWIW the "crackdown" on guns after the Port Arthur Massacre made semi-auto weapons illegal, and insisted that all gun owners be licenced. Plenty of folk, including my kin, still legally own and use guns for sport. The vast majority - 95% - of Australians agree with these laws - and I'll bet that an even higher percentage are offended today. Shane! I don't know why you feel the need to insult the United States of America's most respected statesman. As I am sure you know, Charlton Heston's integrity is absolutely beyond question; indeed, as I understand things, he has undertaken "His great work" to end the threat from all those lilly-livered gun-haters who would want nothing less than to rewrite the U.S. Constitution, and turn us into a bunch of no-good "commies". Naturally, Mr. Heston, aside from his unimpeachable character, is a man of means, and is, therefore, performing this information disemmination on behalf of the gun manufacturing industry, for absolutely no fee whatsoever. When Mr. Heston talks to you through your Australian televison sets, you should take him at his word - without question - just as you would if Moses (or Ben Hur) were speaking to you directly. How could you, therefore, possibly disagree with this paragon of virtue or even take him seriously? Just to keep this OT. The Washington DC IPMS had a first rate meeting, partly because the Il'ya and the Farman F-40 got their just rewards (whatever that was) but mostly because we had over 50 attendees, and a WW2 Navy aircraft pilot speaker. So, if you're ever in the DC area, please look us up; we have a big picture of Charlton hanging on the wall behind the Executive Committee's table - not to be missed, I can tell you.
