Etched brass or scratchbuilt are the only other two alternatives for framework. sp >> It may be the crap that makes Spads so neat looking, but all those louvers and fasteners and the radiator bits and........yikes...not too mention all those #$#$%$%^ ribs. Last time I built the big Revell, I thought I'd get fancy and duplicate the rib tacks (which seemed to be the Spad method of choice for attaching the fabric to the frames, rather than stitching)under the tapes. I used little white glue dots and after about four ribs, my hand was shaking, BUT, it looked so good that I didn't have the heart to just say "ah heck with it", remove the lil bumps and get on with it. Nooooo, I went ahead and did the whole thing, thankful that with Spads, not every rib was tacked. This was the onset of madness- if I had gone this far, how could I not continue in the same fashion throughout the model? Before it was over, I had removed the kit's be-stringered turtle deck and redid it with real wooden stringers covered in doped tissue; made independent axles that moved up and down, faired over with tissue made flexible by acrylic medium; extended the prop tips to bring them up to corrct length and topped it off with completely masked and painted markings.
