No offence intended - and as the list members all know, I'm a boring pedant at heart. The model looks great, missing gun supports or not (CAN you even see something that size? I suppose you left them out until you could make a elevating bolt with the right number of threads per inch) > Anyway, I shall go away and flay myself a hundred times > chanting: cover not > chute, cover not chute. ...sounds echoing from the opposite coast "no surrounds on those roundels...no surrounds on those roundels" Mate, if you want a contest, I can be the biggest dill around here, no trouble ;-) I'll look out for Robs reviews. If I can't get over for your Expo, at least I can admire the Perth Jastas work from afar. > Anyway (he retorts petulantly) at least I didn't get the top > wing confused > with the bottom wing. Nyah nyah!. ROTFL. A friend of mine was building an interwar multiengined biplane a few years ago under the influence of home brew. Whilst so affected he carefully attached the underside of the top wing to the top side of the bottom wing. I wanted him to finish the model that way (fuselage on top of the upper wing, undercart between them) but he insisted on filling all the wrong holes and drilling new ones. When finished it looked just as it should - but gave us all a lot of fun in the meantime. Mike, I got one this weekend and also looked at the possibilities of changing this kit to a DIII, the wing span on the DII was 8.75m vs 9.05m for the DIII (wing warp version). The fuselage sides (imo) need to be sanded to remove the 'interior' bracing. The kit appears to match the first 12 (231/16 as example) as the DF Special doesn't show this a/c with the horizonal 'stringer' running the length of the fuselage as with the rest of the production. The top wing needs some work where the central section was raised to improve the pilot's forward field of vision, the kits doesn't show this very well. But for the $$ it's a nice DII kit with possibilities. The D.III has the 14-cylinder, 2 row engine, right? Does anyone make this engine in 1/48? I made a 1/72 version for an E.IV conversion (what was I thinking...?) by gluing up separate cylinders. An easier approach would have been to mate two 7-cylinder engines, which can be had from Aeroclub. That's what Lone Star provides for their E.IV in 1/48. Just trying to help... Not only do I do that with Squadron, but I do that with every mail order company that I do business with. One detail that I didn't mention before - last time this happened with squadron, I had also ordered some decals that were marked at $.99. Even though I didn't kit the kit I wanted, I wasn't charged for shipping on the decals. Kind of a bitter/sweet experience. Matt Date: Mon, 28 Feb 2000 17:30:26 -0600From: "Lee Mensinger" I agree, except, I believe it to be worse than dirty pool. Tell them this. If the order is not complete you do not want them to send anything. (Or) If you do not have this particular item do not ship anything, since, this is the primary reason I am giving you an order now. The wings BTW are in a ratio of approx 1:1 plastic to milliput, it was probably that which finally turned my mind.
